Melbourne Care Expo 2025!

We were run off our feet and voices lost after 2 days at the Care Expo Melbourne fielding questions as the personal alarm experts.

We saw lots of familiar faces and new organisations came to visit us over the two days, a huge reason why we love to present at expos all across Australia - who doesn't like putting a name to a face?

Representing Guardian was one of our Founders/Directors, Lance, joined by our Director of Business Development, Justin. Those visiting our booth found meeting with one of the Founders incredibly insightful, learning how it all began at Guardian alongside our current offerings of personal alarms.

The Guardian Trace (https://guardianpa.com.au/product/guardian-trace/) once again was a show favourite, with people from many industries, ages, and walks of life finding a simple, Bluetooth alarm new and exciting. This product is especially popular amongst parents for their high school aged children! A really great way to get peace of mind when the kids are starting to want more independence.

Heads up Brisbane - we'll be at the Care Expo Brisbane (https://careexpobrisbane.com.au/) on the 12th & 13th of September.

What is the best personal alarm for me?

When choosing a personal alarm, there are several factors to consider:

Ease of use: As mentioned earlier, the device should be easy to operate, especially for elderly individuals with limited mobility.

Wearability: Will the user wear it? Sometimes choosing based on style can mean the difference between wearing it vs having it collect dust or sit in a drawer.

Waterproof: Accidents can happen anywhere, including the shower or bath. Some of our devices are showerproof but for those that aren’t the Shower Pouch is a simple accessory to provide peace of mind for this daily routine.

Monitoring: Choosing between family and professional monitoring is not an easy choice. Learn more about these options by clicking here.

Additional features: Some devices come with additional features such as Fall Detection or GPS tracking. Consider your loved one’s specific needs and choose a device that offers the necessary features.

If you need help deciding, call us today.

“It's secure, I like the feeling of security. I don't want anything to happen again
like when I had a stroke and didn't get help. All I do now is press the button
when I need help. I especially like it how when I go to bed and it's a comforter,
I don't have any fears.”

JOAN EDWARDS, Client.

Thanks Joan, we love that we help you feel safe and secure!

How easy is using a personal fall detection alarm?

Technology is constantly evolving and becoming more complex, making it challenging for some individuals to use.

However, our personal alarms are designed to be user-friendly and easy to operate. Most devices have a simple one-touch button that can be pressed even with limited mobility or dexterity. This way, users can easily call for help in case of an emergency.

Happy Cat Day!

Did you know cats can be excellent therapy animals? They can have positive effects on patients with numerous diseases as well as helping with depression, reducing isolation, relief from dementia, and even cardiovascular health!

Fun fact:
Cats may possess the ability to detect illness in humans. Through their highly developed sense of smell, by recognizing subtle changes in body language and behaviour, and potentially by sensing hormonal shifts!

And they simply make excellent pets.

Meet some of the cats in the GPA family - there’s quite a few!

ASTRO: “He likes to sit in strange positions!”

MARLEY: “Every good cat must have some dog in them!”

GRYFFINDOR (GRYFF): “Likes to wake you up at 3am to play, thinks he’s part dog, enjoys ‘hiding’."

ACE: “He is the most mischievous, adventurous and lovable boy ever. He loves to play and cause trouble but he always settles for his kisses and cuddles.”

TIGGER: “This is Tigger. Aces brother. He is fluffy. And it’s a good thing he’s pretty cause there’s not much going on inside his head.”

LUNA: “A senior, chicken loving lap cat.”

HOLLY: “Favourite activity is sleeping by a sunny window or door.”

ZAR and BEAR: “Both are rescue kitties. Bear is a snuggler and Zar likes catching flies when they get in the house.”

ALBIE: “Still a kitten and the sweetest boy - unless it’s food time (steals Reggie’s dinner!)”

JIMMY: “Quite popular around our streets, everyone knows Jimmy. His non-negotiable is to be outdoors.”

ARCHIE: “The most affectionate cat ever. Jumps on my car within 1-2 minutes of parking, seeking attention.”

REGGIE: “The most confident and smart (aka manipulative) cat. Loves every cat or dog he meets!”

SPYRO and INKY: “Both lived to be 21 years old, they passed away a month apart back in 2021, and I still miss them a whole bunch.”

PEPPER: “Our little Princess. She is calm and gives the best snuggles. Her zoomies are crazy. A great little hunter and loves to ambush when walking past.”

How can independence and safety be improved for elderly and vulnerable Australian?

For many vulnerable Australians including recipients of NDIS support recipients, maintaining their independence is crucial to their well-being. However, some have an increased risk of falls, accidents, and emergencies.

A personal alarm allows them to continue living independently while having access to immediate help in case of an emergency. This device can give both the wearer and their family members peace of mind, knowing that they have a lifeline in case of any unforeseen events.

Why Choose a Personal Alarm Emergency Button?

A personal alarm emergency button is an SOS device that can be a pendant, watch, or even a phone. It has a button that, when pressed, sends an emergency signal to either family & friends, 000, or a monitoring centre. The monitoring centre then contacts emergency services or a designated family member or caregiver.

This quick and easy process can save precious seconds in case of an emergency and provide peace of mind to both the wearer and their loved ones.

WHY we started Guardian Safety Pendants

Hi I’m Lance and this is my wife Jose, Jose used to work for many years as a carer in the Home Care industry and saw first hand the struggles of the elderly, disabled and those living alone and the concerns of their loved ones for their safety.

She heard too many stories of people falling and spending hours on the floor or out in their gardens hoping someone would hear their cries and come to help them. In years past we had sad personal experience of this happening in our own family and we had no way of knowing what had occurred.
