Sixteen years ago I embarked on an adventure that saw me turn my back on a university degree in the media industry to begin my studies in the human body and helping those that needed to feel better in their own bodies. To this day, that desire still runs deep within my soul and I am proud to finally combine all of my knowledge and experience acquired over the last 16 years in my own home based clinic.
People have often asked me what reasons there are for having a massage on a regular basis - and the most obvious answer is... because it is good for you. I could list the many reasons - both scientific and traditional - why you should have a massage and how it can help you on a holistic level, but it all comes down to how it makes you feel. When your mind and body are at ease, everything seems that much better. I have 15 years experience as a remedial massage therapist, having started my massage career in Brisbane before moving back to Warwick. I have qualifications in remedial massage, deep tissue and Swedish massage techniques, as well as lymphatic drainage, pregnancy and aromatherapy massage techniques. I am also a qualified Aromatherapist, completing my studies under the guidance of Salvatore Battaglia, co-owner and CEO of Perfect Potion - an aromatherapy company based in Brisbane that creates beautiful organic essential oils, lifestyle, body and skin care products. To this day, I still believe they are the best aromatherapy products available (and I have tried and tested a lot of essential oil products over the past 16 years).
I am a true believer in the ancient words of Hippocrates “let food be thy medicine”. Some days this might involve me enjoying a few sweet treats or indulging in a lavish cheese board - but that is part of a balancing act. I am not the type of practitioner who is going to deny you of the foods that you love and tell you to abandon every food that makes you happy - it is all about balance, not restriction. I would love the opportunity to educate you on how your body works and what you can do from a nutritional perspective to help you achieve the balancing act that is right for you. I don’t particularly like fad diets and I am really not a fan of celebrity “nutritionists” - give me someone with some authenticity and a degree in science and I will be more inclined to pay attention (not to say that celebrity “nutritionists” don’t have anything valid to say - I just don’t like the blanket approach and the cult-like following some of them have attained). I love to experiment and explore food and I love to share these experiences with those around me.
My nutrition consultations include a comprehensive health assessment, which includes a diet study (please be honest - it’s so much more fun for me if you are), food as medicine guidelines, diet and nutritional supplement prescription, if required. I take a gentle approach - changing your dietary habits can be daunting. I don’t want to scare you off with a whole list of restrictive dietary changes that you aren’t going to follow - let’s work together and figure out what’s best for you. I have teamed up with some very reputable, practitioner only supplement companies to provide you with the best supplements to assist and support you during your health journey. I have spent the past 8 years researching and studying nutritional medicine to gain my qualifications and accreditation and I can’t wait to share this knowledge and more with you all.
