🕯️ Out of the Shadows Walk – World Su***de Prevention Day 🕯️

Last night, some of the Centre for Healthy Living team joined around 70 Warwick locals in the “Out of the Shadows” candlelight walk to honour World Su***de Prevention Day.

Beginning at the blue Tree of Hope at St Mark’s Church, we walked together along Palmerin Street in a spirit of remembrance, respect, and support.

We’d like to acknowledge the Southern Downs Su***de Prevention Network for organising this meaningful event, and we extend our deepest respects to those who have lost a loved one to su***de. 💙

💛 Today is R U OK? Day 💛

A simple conversation can change a life.
Sometimes asking “Are you OK?” is the first step in helping someone feel seen, supported and less alone.

👉 You don’t need to be an expert—just a good listener.
👉 You don’t need to have all the answers—just show you care.
👉 You don’t need to wait—today is the perfect day to check in.

You never know the difference your words might make.
So today, and every day, let’s keep the conversation going.

🌍 Today is International Su***de Prevention Day 🌍

Q: When did Noah build the Ark?
A: Before the Flood.

💡 The message? When you’re feeling okay, it’s the perfect time to prepare for the harder days. One way to do this is by creating your very own Self-Care Box – a little toolkit to remind you of what helps when life feels overwhelming.

Here are some ideas to include:
✨ A bottle of water (our bodies need it more than we realise – stress drains it fast!)
✨ Your favourite calming scents
✨ Comfort snacks you love
✨ A list of supportive friends, family, or contacts you can call or message
✨ Simple activities like walking, journaling, or taking a warm shower
✨ Small objects that spark joy – photos, a soft blanket, or a favourite book

💙 Remember: you don’t need to wait until you’re struggling to put supports in place. Creating a Self-Care Box now can give you strength and comfort when you need it most.

If you or someone you know is finding it tough right now, please reach out for support. In Australia, you can call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636. You are never alone. 💙

📚✨ Today is Indigenous Literacy Day ✨📚

Join us at the Centre for Healthy Living in celebrating the power of story, culture and connection.

Indigenous Literacy Day is a reminder of the importance of language, learning and the sharing of First Nations stories with future generations.

We acknowledge the wisdom and richness of the world’s oldest living cultures and the strength that comes from keeping stories alive.

Together, let’s celebrate and support Indigenous voices. 💛🖤❤️

👉 How will you mark Indigenous Literacy Day? Share your reflections or a favourite book by a First Nations author in the comments below.

A huge thank you to Dr. Kathryn Murray for the exceptional Professional Development evening which was hosted by the Warwick Community Kindy.

Our team valued the training and had some great take-aways:

* A calm brain is a thinking brain.

* A "SET-Brain" is built from the bottom up and includes, Survival, Emotional, Thinking aspects - only when the first two are in harmony do we and our children get to the thinking brain.

* Clutter, Clatter, and Colour matter in our built environments and for the developing brain.

We are keen to implement these things in both our professional and personal life!
