POV - You own a business and you’re at a family Xmas Lunch

POV: You live with the biggest pest of all time

27/11/2025

Taught my son how to make offers today.

We talked about awareness, lead capture, funnels, ads, and sell by chat. He already knew what a funnel was. Kind of.

Explained lead magnets, pricing tiers, and how Zuckerberg gets rich off ads.

He picked the low-barrier offer. Smart kid.

Started explaining the client acquisition engine. Attract. Acquire. Ascend.

He said, “I won’t remember.”

Fair enough. That’s why I built the course. So you don’t have to either.

If you attract bad clients, that’s on your positioning.

I had a client doing great work but stuck with discount hunters.

Nothing wrong with the service.

Everything wrong with the message.

No stance. No standards. No clarity.

We changed one thing.

We told people exactly what they’re buying into. And what they’re not.

The right people showed up.

The wrong people faded out.

Clarity fixes more than price ever will.

You can be the best in your field and still be broke.

I learned that early.

I was great at what I did. Clients liked me. I worked hard, took on everything, and pushed for results.

But the business never reflected the effort. I’d watch others charge more, work less, and grow faster. And it messed with my head.

Then it clicked for me.

Being good at your craft only makes you good at your craft. It does not make you a business owner.

Business is a different skill set. It’s how you position what you do. How you package it. How you systemise it so the outcome isn’t tied to you doing every job.

Once I learned that, everything changed. The brand grew. The team grew. The income grew. And it all felt lighter.

If you feel stuck, the gap isn’t your skill. It’s that no one taught you the business side.

Pretty standard day.

Built some stuff for the long haul.

Systemised a few things.

Had a couple of Zooms that made me question every life choice I’ve ever made.

3pm hit, clocked out for dad duty.

Said “wow” 47 times to keep the peace.

Squeezed in a 20-minute dad wodz session.

Then Wagyu steak with the fam.

Bit of laptop catch-up after dinner.

Sleep. Repeat.

Not glamorous. Not viral.

Just building quietly. Every day.

Naming your business after yourself feels smart… until it traps you.

I learned that the hard way. Body By Brando worked when it was just me. But as I grew, it boxed me in.

Clients expected me. Staff felt like the backup plan. Everything ran through my name.

No days off. No freedom. No real scale.

So I rebuilt it. Systems. Leaders. A business that runs without me in the room.

Being good at the job is not enough.

Learning business skills is what sets you free.

You might be great at your craft. But if every task still goes through you, you’re the bottleneck.

I spoke to a sparky who was booked out for months. Team on the tools. Work rolling in. But he was still quoting jobs, chasing payments, and juggling clients while trying to get home for dinner.

From the outside he looked successful. From the inside he was burnt out.

He didn’t own a business. He owned a job with more pressure.

If your business needs you for everything, it owns you.

The fix is simple. Build systems for leads. Build systems for sales. Build systems for delivery. Build systems that help your team take more off your plate.

Skill fills your week. Systems give you your life back.

If someone calls you cringe, it usually means they’re too scared to try themselves.

Most people hate things, not because you failed, but because you tried.

They only chase their dreams when they sleep. You’re chasing yours while awake.

So let them watch.

22/10/2025

People are always watching.

Even if they never like, comment, or share.

I can’t tell you how many times someone has come up to me at a party and said, “Mate, I’ve been seeing your stuff online.”

Quietly. Consistently. In the background.

And it always makes me think… what if I never started posting?

No gyms. No DadWodz. No Kaizen.

None of it would exist.

So whatever wild dream you’ve got… start it.

But don’t just grind in silence.

Build a brand around it.

Because when the time is right, you want to already be the go-to.

17/10/2025

Work has always been something I enjoy.

Not in the hustle culture way. Not grind-until-you-die.

I just like building things. Making them better.

When I was 13, it was mowing lawns for 20 bucks so I could buy skateboards and cricket bats.

Now it’s gyms, systems, consulting. And yeah, sometimes it’s chaos. But I still fkn love it.

That drive to create never left. It just looks a little different these days.
