Wauchope Community Arts Council

Wauchope Community Arts Council Wauchope Arts - arts from the heart The Wauchope Community Arts Hall is just that - community. We have a few hundred members who regularly attend our events.

Located adjacent to Bain Park in Wauchope (off Oxley Lane), it is one of the most intimate venues in the Hastings yet attracts acts of extraordinary quality. The hall is owned by Port Macquarie Hastings Council and is managed locally, for the council, by the Wauchope Community Arts Council Inc. This committee of volunteers oversees the use of this great community resource for arts performances, ar

t house or documentary film nights, concerts, related activities and private functions. Our committee members have day jobs as teachers, nurses, disability workers, business owners, artists and musicians. We happily volunteer at Wauchope Arts because it enriches our lives, as well as providing an unusual experience for Wauchope and beyond. We don’t just put on events – we have also auspiced many fledgling groups and artists and work with other community groups on projects like the Tree Fiesta, which will now be an annual event. Members get discounts at every concert and free entry to our film nights. Membership numbers are growing as more people discover the magic of our gigs … and that travelling to Wauchope is not like crossing the Nullarbor!

We are very excited to be hosting Alcides Neto on Saturday August 30th.

A Brazilian-born, Naarm-based composer, guitarist, and percussionist, his music is rooted in the rich traditions of Brazilian culture and shaped by the experience of living far from home.

With a percussive approach to guitar, inspired by Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Alcides creates a dynamic, textured sound that brings warmth to his music.

Since moving to Naarm in 2014, he has become a dedicated contributor to the local scene, inviting audiences into the joy and complexity of Brazilian music. His performances blend tradition with experimentation, offering space for reflection, celebration, and connection.

In late 2022, Alcides released his debut single “Partindo Alto”, a playful nod to the samba subgenre Partido Alto. His first full-length album, recorded in 2024 and set for release in 2026, features eight tracks that reimagine traditional Brazilian genres through a contemporary lens.

How fortunate are we that Sandy Evans Music graced our stage last night.
The Evans/Robson quartet gave a masterclass in musicianship and storytelling.
If you missed the concert, or if you were in the audience, there's an insightful John Shand review in yesterday's SMH /Spectrum.
