“I just need to feel more motivated!”
It’s something most of us think at some point. But psychologically, motivation often follows action, not the other way around.
When we take a small step, the brain registers progress. That progress creates a reward response, which makes it easier to take the next step. Momentum builds, and motivation grows from there.
The key is lowering the entry point.
Instead of “finish the report,” try “open the document.”
Instead of “do a full workout,” try “put your shoes on.”
Small, manageable actions reduce resistance and create forward movement.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, it may not be a lack of motivation, it may just be that the first step feels too big.
