Creating the perfect environment in your Uterus for conception

When trying to conceive, optimising the environment in the uterus is crucial for implantation and a healthy pregnancy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the uterus is often referred to as the “Zi Gong” (子宫), which translates to “Baby Palace.” The health of the Zi Gong is essential for fertility and overall reproductive wellness.

By nurturing your Uterus with proper nutrition, lifestyle choices, and holistic practices, you can create the best possible environment for conception. 💕✨

Swipe across to learn about some key steps to create the ideal “Baby Palace”.

“Unexplained infertility” can feel like a frustrating diagnosis, but is it truly unexplained? 🤔 Often, this label means that current tests haven’t identified the root cause. However, many factors—ranging from hormonal imbalances, autoimmune conditions, and gut health issues to environmental toxins and subtle genetic variations—can play a hidden role. 🌱
💡 You deserve answers. If you’re navigating unexplained infertility, seek out support and new perspectives to empower your journey.
Here are some causes that might be hindering you to conceive:
· Irregular Ovulation: Ovulation irregularities or the absence of ovulation, often caused by hormonal imbalances, can make conception challenging. Factors like PCOS, high stress, or lifestyle habits commonly contribute to these issues. Also purely trusting your ovulation app might have you missing the ovulation window.

· Low Progesterone: Insufficient levels of progesterone during the luteal phase can shorten menstrual cycles and hinder proper implantation, leading to a so called luteal phase defect.

· Gut Health and Microbiome: An imbalance in the gut microbiome may lead to inflammation, hormonal disruption, and poor nutrient absorption, all of which affect fertility. Conditions like a „leaky gut“ can worsen inflammation, further impacting reproductive health. Missing key nutrients, such as folate, vitamin D, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants, can affect egg quality, hormone production, and overall reproductive health.

· Thyroid Antibodies: The presence of thyroid-related antibodies, such as anti-TPO or anti-thyroglobulin, can disrupt ovulation, hormonal balance, and uterine health. Even when thyroid levels appear within the normal range, these antibodies may still cause inflammation that negatively impacts fertility.

· Chronic Inflammation and Immune Issues: Conditions like autoimmune disorders or high stress can cause chronic inflammation, which might disrupt implantation or increase the chances of early pregnancy loss.

Acupuncture, Fertility & Preconception Care 👶🏻

It is the 90 days before conception that have a huge impact on the health of your baby.
Therefore it is important to look at diet, lifestyle and the environment at least 3 months prior to conceiving.

It’s during these 90 days that you can positively influence your and your partner’s epigenetics and the expression of the DNA which will be passed onto your future child.
The quality of the genetic material from both the s***m and the egg determine the health of the pregnancy and future genetic predisposition for the child.

Acupuncture has many benefits and may help to improve your fertility in women and men.

Our treatments are targeted to your cycle and health and may include herbal medicine & supplement prescription.

Optimising sleep quality, especially deep and uninterrupted sleep, is essential for promoting the natural release of hormones like melatonin, Growth Hormone and a good amount of cortisol to start your day with good energy. 💥
It is therefore important to have good sleep hygiene practices to improve the quality of your sleep. These are little hacks to keep your sleep in check which will lead to have a better hormone balance: 💫
✔️ Maintaining a Consistent Sleep Schedule:
Go to bed and wake up at the same times every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body's internal clock. ⏰
✔️ Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine:
Develop a calming pre-sleep routine, such as reading a book, taking a warm bath, or practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing. 🧘🏻‍♀️
✔️ Keep the Bedroom Comfortable:
Ensure your bedroom is conducive to sleep. This includes an adequate room temperature, and a dark and quiet environment. 🌚
✔️ Limit Exposure to Screens:
Avoid screens, including phones, tablets, and computers, at least an hour before bedtime. The blue light emitted from screens can interfere with your body's production of melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone. ☎️
✔️ Manage Stress:
Practice stress-reduction techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing, or progressive muscle relaxation, to calm your mind before sleep.
✔️ Gradual Wind-Down:
Avoid engaging in stimulating or stressful activities right before bedtime. Give your body and mind time to relax and wind down. Hot showers just before bed, help to relax your body quicker. 🚿
✔️ Having an evening Acupuncture appointment is also a good start if you are really struggling getting to sleep.

Does AMH really matter?

FACT: AMH is an indicator of a woman’s ovarian reserve that is often checked by a GP or fertility specialist. Higher AMH values are supposed to signify that a woman has a normal ovarian reserve. Lower numbers may indicate a woman with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).

Our view on AMH: AMH is often seen as the “holy grail” fertility test. It’s not—it’s just one piece of data among the many that a doctor will use to gauge your fertility health. Your AMH level isn’t a test of whether or not you can get pregnant right now. The AMH test is just a SNAPSHOT of your levels at one specific point in time.

The AMH test cannot determine the quality of a woman’s eggs or her total egg count.

👉🏼Egg Quality can be improved!
FACT: When it comes to your eggs, you get what you get, and unfortunately, you can’t make more. However, there are plenty of ways to increase the chances of fertilising the eggs that you do have. There are lots of supplements that can improve your egg quality, speak to your health practitioner about options!

By working together with a health practitioner — and being patient throughout the process — you can find a plan that works for you to get pregnant into your 30s and beyond.🙌

If you find this useful, hit save. 😄

We got there in the end 💃🏽
This beautiful bump belongs to a patient that has come to us struggling to conceive.
After pushing for more testing we found that she had severe endometriosis and needed two lengthy surgeries. It was recommended for her to do IVF after a couple of months of recovery but she fell pregnant naturally in the meantime. 🙌 The Patient made all the lifestyle changes that were needed, took the right supplements and stuck to her recommend treatment regime.
Baby is due anytime now. 👶🏻 We are so happy that we have witnessed her whole journey and can’t be any happier to prepare her body for the best possible birth experience.

When you start fertility treatment with us, we often get you to track your temperature.
So what are the benefits of tracking?
You might have heard that it indicates ovulation but temperature charts also give us amazing insights into your hormones, your metabolism and stress levels.
Without temperature charts, we would be relying on the occasional blood tests at clinic whereas charting gives us a really clear picture of how you’re progressing with the work that we’re doing.
Some facts:

📉 Before ovulation, your waking temperature will be on the lower side, often between 36.10 to 36.5 degrees Celsius (97.0 to 97.7 degrees Fahrenheit)

📈 Post ovulation, your temperature will typically rise around 0.3 of a degree and will stay higher right until your next period. (For example from 36.3 to 36.6).

Let's say, your temperature is quite low throughout the month, it could be an indication of thyroid problems. We will suggest to get blood tests in that case to find your thyroid and also work on trying to warming up your body with herbs and acupuncture. Over the next few months we can then adjust herbs and see how your body is responding.

What charting can tell you: 💁🏻‍♀️
✅ it can help to identify ovulation especially if you are having long cycles
✅ if you are noticing that your temperatures are quite low in your follicular phase (36.1 and lower), this can indicate thyroid issues.
✅ if your temps are low or unstable in your luteal phase, this can indicate low progesterone
✅ it can identify a short or long follicular phase
✅ it can indicate if there are infections and inflammation

These are just a few examples. The more your practitioner is trained in reading charts, the more insights we will get about your hormones, overall health and “yin and yang” from a Chinese Medicine point of view.
Charting can be really beneficial if you have long cycles, , to establish ovulation.

Do you find charting beneficial?

We had a few people join us lately, so we thought it was a good idea to re-introduce our praccies☺️
Hello! I'm Laelia (pronounced Lay-lee-ah). I'm a practitioner currently based in Sydney & here are a handful of things that are fairly quick to learn about me, along with a few you may not have known; ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ I'm absolutely awkward around a camera.
➕ I LOVE love good tea (pu'erh is currently having its time to shine, but I've grown up on the classic english breakfast). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ I have three degree's, and started out as a ceramicist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ I spent most of my life as a competitive rock climber and coach. I also lifted, a lot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ I've done a lot of those things with chronic fatigue & get how hard it can be to juggle listening to your body with where your ceiling is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ Art has always been a big part of my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➕ Also, plants.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I often get asked why I started in Eastern Medicine, and while there’s a little story in there as to how it came to be, the main driver was that this was something I knew I could never outgrow or get bored of. There is always more to learn within this circular medicine & how our self-regulating systems function. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's sort of like wearing a perpetually oversized jumper that you never quite grow into; the more space I take up and take in, the more it grows along with me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Amid that ever growing jumper analogy I acknowledge that I'm also an imperfect person & (like everyone) I sometimes get things wrong, but I learn & I invest my time, care and energy into my patients. The holes get mended as I invest a lot in developing my skills. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really really like seeing people thrive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, speaking of cosy jumper time, it's time for me to get to clinic for the day. If you have questions, just ask! If you have a good tea to try, my door is open! Most importantly, if you need a session I will find you a time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
