I returned from my volunteer work in the Philippines, just before the Cyclone thought it would cause some chaos (no power, internet or phone signal for myself at home - I replied to all enquires but if you didn’t get a reply please reach out as I think there were some ongoing communication issues on the network!)

I just wanted to share some pictures of my experience and thank all those that donated mum and baby clothing, breast pads, breast pumps and baby wraps. They were gratefully received by the new mums and local midwifes.

An international team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and midwives spent the week providing care and education to on the island of Ticao island in the Philippines.

We were joined by local student midwives who help provide translation and assisted in our clinics. We were supported by the local police and army, and a whole team of locals who assisted in feeding and transporting us all.

The small team of Midwives provided antenatal and postnatal checks alongside well baby/child checks - seeing nearly 500 children in the week. Each day we were working in a different local school, and would set up a makeshift clinic space.

It was an exhausting week, but such a privilege to be able offer my time to the women and families of Ticao island. I hope to be back in the future.

Next year I am traveling to the Philippines, with some work collegues to undertake some Midwifery Volunteer work.

I would love to gift the Pregnant mums i see in clinic a little package to help them to welcome their new baby, so I thought i would ask all my beautiful mums if they have any items in great condition they would like to donate. I will be traveling to an area of poverty so any items in excellent condition will be gratefully received.

I would like to provide a muslin/cotton wrap, a 0000/00000 onesie and singlet and some contrast cards to each mum to be. If possible my aim is to add in reusable maternity pads, reusable baby wipes and a thermometer.

I’m hoping to also take ni**le shields, Silverettes, Haakaa’s, and wearable breast pumps that i can leave with the local clinic Midwives, to loan out to the mums experiencing feeding issues (I’m sure many of you can relate to those difficulties in the early days).

If you have some items that you would like donate, send me a DM or text and i will arrange to collect from you. I will also add a link to an Amazon wish list below if anyone would rather donate items that way.

Thank you so much, I’m really looking forward to the opportunity and can’t wait to post about my experience.

Calling local businesses and families, we need your help!

Every year we try to do something to give back to the local community. Last year, we donated over 200 gifts the local community centre for those families doing it a bit tough.

This year I wanted to do something a bit different. I'm sure a lot of people are aware of the fire that happened in Thorneside on Sunday the 6th of October and unfortunately took the lives of 2 people and left four families without a home. Since this happened I have been trying to come up with a way that we could try and raise money to help these families to rebuild.

I have had asked a few people as to what I can do to help and someone suggested we could hold a raffle with all proceeds going to the families.

So I am reaching out to our local community to see if there are any local businesses or families who would like to donate a prize please let me know. We will take anything from vouchers, new toys, homewares, presents, gift packages, etc.... All businesses that donate we will advertise you on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.

I am hoping to have tickets ready to sell to the community by the 1st of November and will draw it at our Christmas Party on December 1st. We will also be donating all profits of our Christmas Party to the families as well.

We of course will be donating a couple of prizes to the raffle;

1 x Maggie Moo Music Bayside Messy Play Birthday party for up to 12 people. We will provide full set up, run and pack up. Must be located in the Bayside/Redlands area

2 x Full term of music passes to be used at any of our venues

3 x Sensory Kits; Includes: Maggie Moo Plush toy, shakers, sensory scarf, stickers, sensory fidget toys, bubble wand and light wand.

If you would like to donate any prizes please comment below, send us a direct message, email us at chloe@maggiemoomusic.com.au or call/text me at 0403 622 653

Thank you all so much

A postnatal home visit is not not just a quick check of babies weight and a few half-hearted questions about how you are - its an in-depth appointment where you feel listened to, and we develop a plan that suits you and your family.

Over the 6 week period it feels like it’s a knowledgeable friend popping over, who wont judge the mess. Haven’t got round to a shower, dishes in the sink, and a toddler having a tantrum in the corner- it doesn't matter. I’m there to see you and your baby.

Yes i weight the baby, do a head to toe check, review the feeding and share my extensive knowledge with you.

Yes i check your physical wellbeing, but also your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Can i help with breastfeeding -YES!
Can i write a prescription for infection or low milk supply- YES!
Can you text me a question between visits - YES!
Do i cheerlead you on - 100% YES!

There is so much more i cover on home visits, and best of all it’s all Bulk-Billed with Medicare, in your own home!

You don't need to have a problem to see me, even if everything is going 100% (just don’t tell the other mums!) I’m still happy to see you.

I also love meeting your fur-babies, who secretly think I’m visiting them!

THE KIND MIDWIFE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS TWO WHOLE YEARS TODAY!
It has been an incredible 2 years, as I continue to be amazed as so many new mums welcome me into their homes. I’ve had the amazing privilege of watching you grow as parents, watching your babies meet their first milestones, being there to celebrate the wins each week, as well as talk through the lows.
I could never have envisioned the local support and how popular my service would become. Thank you to the mums that share my details with others and the local businesses that continue to support me.
I look forward to meeting any new mums in the coming year, expanding my business further, and continuing to be there for the mums already in my care.
Thank you and Happy Birthday to The Kind Midwife!

Happy Mother’s Day to all my wonderful mums.I hope you all enjoy this special day.

Happy International Midwives Day.
Every vear on the 5th May we celebrate the importance of the role of the Midwife.
Many dont understand the work we do.
It's both an Art and a Science and so different to most other roles in healthcare. We are expert in 'normal', we protect the birth space, we work with autonomy.
This is me as a Student Midwife with my 40th Birth, It was the baby that enabled me to qualify and pass my course. I will forever be thankful and grateful for the mums and families that have allowed me to walk alongside them over my career so far. Each day i learn something new, each day i meet a new family, each day i work hard to achieve the outcomes mums desire.
I'm so proud to be a Midwife. It's not a job, its a passion. I firmly belive everyone should have access to a Midwife.
