Thankyou Debbie from for the most uplifting and inspiring weekend of Pilates exploration. I was both surprised and grateful to be guided through the connection between Pilates and Aerial work. Not only does the hammock show your strengths but it certainly highlights your weaknesses and imbalances as well. You've got to love a plank!! Well, you don't have to of course, but who can not love the strength and sense of achievement a good plank can give you? The ladies in this photo range in age from 69 to 83. Pilates is their 'go to' exercise regime twice a week. To me they represent a shining example of what Pilates can really do for you; and proves that you are never to old to exercise. 💛💙

Adding a simple arm to a basic leg lift can completely change the way the body stabilises. I'm not for changing exercises and adding choreography for no reason, but I totally advocate adding or altering an exercise to challenge whilst still maintaining the integrity and purpose of the work. 💛💙

Today and every day remember to give your feet some love. Flex and extend the ankle joints. Flex and extend the joints of the toes. Can you isolate movent at the ankle from movement at the toes? Roll your ankles. Can you easily go in both directions?

Stiff ankles and feet lead to poor balance - these simple movements done daily can help joints stay mobile and healthy. Yoy can even sneak these in under your desk at work!! 💛💙

Never forget the posterior chain. Strengthening the back line of the body goes a long way to finding and maintaining good posture, so you can walk tall and look the world in the eye.

✅️ Start with a simple 'superman' pose.
✅️ Engage abdominals.
✅️ Don't dump into your lumbar spine.
✅️ Lift from the breastbone.
✅️ Progress to swimming and swan.
✅️ Regress by lifting limbs one at a time.

Inner Strength Pilates was established in the Redlands in 2008 and has offered quality Pilates instruction since that time. We were the first in the area to cater to small group matwork and small group reformer classes long before franchised fitness Pilates studios became popular. Angela in her never-ending quest to help people grow, recover and live their best life continues to commit to continuing education and has a special focus on work for osteoporosis, the elderly, and those who have undergone treatment for cancer.
