đ International Womenâs Day 2026 : Give To Gain
This day always brings with it a moment to reflect: on BEING a woman, and on RAISING a powerful little woman in this world.
And this year, as I sit quietly thinking, pondering the phrase âgive to gainâ, it makes me look around us here in Ballarat, to see how are we giving? And how is that providing gain?
We have SO many incredible women in our town, creating and running small businesses.
Women who put so much heart and love into what they do.
Women whoâve come up with creative and inspiring ways to serve their communities and their families.
Women who have created a workplace for other women, so that they too can have safe and supportive employment, and can then go on to provide security and happiness in their own homes.
We have SO many incredible women here in small business in Ballarat.
And I talk to lots of them, and I hear how much they are struggling.
Business is quiet, sales are down, times are tougher.
These women are often Mums, often juggling lots and lots of balls in their air, and trying their best to keep their businesses and their workplaces afloat.
I donât want to sound like a cranky, frustrated small businesses owner, but I DO want to see more of us, standing up for the WOMEN in our town, and showing actual real support to our women in business
We know that when women create and running successful small businesses in our towns, it can strengthen our communities, and provide so much connection, growth and optimism for our young girls coming through.
We should be wanting to see these businesses thrive.
So, my call out to you guys on IWD 2026, is to try and throw some support behind a women-run business in your town.
Show your support however you can - if youâve got no spare cash, then recommending them to a friend, or liking and sharing their facebook post, can help to make a big difference to that woman in business!
Tag your favourite women led businesses below, and share some love for them on IWD 2026.
