Tips for a more peaceful Christmas from Reframing Autism
⢠Put aside traditions and preconceived ideas of what celebrations āshouldā look like. What do you feel like doing?
⢠Make new traditions. Find ways of being joyful that respect your neurology, sensory sensitivities, and individual preferences.
⢠Build in stim and SPIN (special interests) time to regulate and replenish your spoons. Prioritising these moments is key to supporting your wellbeing during the holiday season.
⢠Maintain routines and prepare for whatās going to happen. Normalise removing āsurprisesā.
⢠Let your relatives and friends know how they can ensure celebrations are enjoyable and inclusive. Itās important they understand and respect any boundaries you have set.
⢠Never let the pressure of expectation ruin the beauty of your familyās unique way of being together. Embrace what feels right for you.

The Holistic Teacher is a team of educational therapists who are highly-skilled, university-trained teachers. We specialise in working with clients who have disabilities, learning differences and developmental delays.
We focus on building and fostering the student's self-confidence and academic skills. We believe that a person's proficiency in literacy and numeracy are vital to one's self-confidence and are beneficial life skills.
We are dedicated to building strong and trusting relationships. Our philosophy is: meet the learner where they are at in their development and build from there. We follow the Code of Ethics for ECI Practitioners.
The Holistic Teacher was established in the Blue Mountains, in 2018, by our principal, Sarah Buckland. She observed there was an urgent response needed for students who were misunderstood at school and/or who had received insufficient teaching instruction.
Our sessions can be done:
⢠Online
⢠In your home*
⢠At our classroom in Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains NSW*
The Holistic Teacher Method develops the skills that are needed for learning.
