Meet Bharti – Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health)
What inspired you to work in Mental Health?
What inspired me to work in mental health is how rewarding it is to witness the transformation in patients—from the moment they arrive to when they leave the hospital in a much better and improved state. It’s not always about big breakthroughs; sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. Sharing a quiet cup of tea, offering a listening ear, or simply being present as company can bring comfort and connection. Being able to contribute to someone’s wellbeing in these small but meaningful ways is what makes this work so special to me.
What’s it like working in a Mental Health Clinic?
Working in a mental health clinic is both challenging and deeply rewarding. Every day brings unique situations that require compassion, patience, and resilience. What makes the work so meaningful is the holistic approach to recovery—we’re not just addressing symptoms but supporting the whole person.
Spending one-on-one time with patients allows us to build trust and understand their individual needs. Through open and respectful communication, we help guide them toward healing, offering not just clinical support but genuine human connection. It’s a role that constantly reminds you of the strength and courage people carry, and the privilege it is to walk alongside them in their journey.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the people—both the patients and the staff I work alongside. Every day, I get to connect with individuals who show incredible strength and resilience, and it’s a privilege to support them on their journey toward better mental health. Working with a dedicated team that shares the same compassion and commitment makes the experience even more meaningful.
I also love being part of the movement to reduce the stigma around mental health. It’s empowering to help create a space where people feel safe to talk, seek help, and be understood without judgement. Knowing that our work contributes to changing perceptions and opening up conversations about mental health is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do.
