Meet Lee - Administration Team Leader

What do you love most about your job?
I love the team I work with, they are a brilliant and supportive group of people who make me smile daily. They respect that I have a young family and understand the importance of not missing a school award or presentation. To find an employer that encourages you to keep the balance is rare.

What does a typical day look like for you?
A coffee to start with is a must, followed by A LOT of billing, emails and phone calls. If I’m not doing that, you’ll find me helping out at consulting suites, reception or anywhere else I can lend a hand.

What’s one small thing anyone can do to support their mental health each day?
Start something, big or small or slow…. just make a start and often the rest will follow.

Meet Bharti – Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health)

What inspired you to work in Mental Health?
What inspired me to work in mental health is how rewarding it is to witness the transformation in patients—from the moment they arrive to when they leave the hospital in a much better and improved state. It’s not always about big breakthroughs; sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. Sharing a quiet cup of tea, offering a listening ear, or simply being present as company can bring comfort and connection. Being able to contribute to someone’s wellbeing in these small but meaningful ways is what makes this work so special to me.

What’s it like working in a Mental Health Clinic?
Working in a mental health clinic is both challenging and deeply rewarding. Every day brings unique situations that require compassion, patience, and resilience. What makes the work so meaningful is the holistic approach to recovery—we’re not just addressing symptoms but supporting the whole person.

Spending one-on-one time with patients allows us to build trust and understand their individual needs. Through open and respectful communication, we help guide them toward healing, offering not just clinical support but genuine human connection. It’s a role that constantly reminds you of the strength and courage people carry, and the privilege it is to walk alongside them in their journey.

What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the people—both the patients and the staff I work alongside. Every day, I get to connect with individuals who show incredible strength and resilience, and it’s a privilege to support them on their journey toward better mental health. Working with a dedicated team that shares the same compassion and commitment makes the experience even more meaningful.

I also love being part of the movement to reduce the stigma around mental health. It’s empowering to help create a space where people feel safe to talk, seek help, and be understood without judgement. Knowing that our work contributes to changing perceptions and opening up conversations about mental health is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do.

“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
Depression is more than sadness, it can affect every part of a person’s life, from how they think to how they move through the day.
Things to look for:
• Loss of interest in things once enjoyed
• Persistent low mood
• Feeling hopeless or helpless
• Changes in appetite or weight
• Sleeping too much or too little
• Withdrawal from others
• Fatigue or low energy
• Thoughts of self-harm or su***de
Check in with those around you. Sometimes the strongest people are the ones silently struggling.

Meet Lauren - Enrolled Nurse (Mental Health)

What inspired you to work in Mental Health?
What inspired me to work in mental health is the deep sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes from helping others. Supporting people through vulnerable and transformative moments in their lives brings a level of job satisfaction that’s hard to match. Knowing that I can play a role in someone’s journey toward healing and wellbeing is incredibly motivating. Every person deserves the chance to find peace and happiness, and being part of that process—no matter how small—makes this work truly meaningful

What makes a clinic feel like a safe and welcoming place?
A clinic feels safe and welcoming when every detail—from staffing to attitude—works together to create a supportive environment. It starts with safe staffing levels, ensuring patients receive attentive care without delays or stress. Friendly smiles, warm introductions, and a no-hassle attitude help patients feel at ease from the moment they arrive.

What truly makes a difference is the proactive and helpful nature of the staff—people who not only respond to needs but anticipate them. Good customer service means listening, being present, and treating every patient with dignity. When hazards are escalated quickly and handled responsibly, it reinforces trust and safety. Most importantly, when patients are treated like family, they feel valued and supported throughout their journey.

What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, especially with patients who return seeking further support. There’s something incredibly powerful about being a familiar face during a difficult time—someone they trust and feel safe with. These ongoing connections remind me of the impact we can have, even in small ways.

I also value how much my understanding of mental health has grown through this work. Every interaction, every story, and every challenge deepens my insight and empathy. It’s a continuous learning journey that not only shapes how I support others, but also how I view wellbeing more broadly. Being part of this environment is both humbling and inspiring.
