TONIGHT we have our community meeting at 6:30pm. This is an important event for Melbourne’s west.

We have extremely limited spaces for students who require the dedicated support of well trained teaching staff as well as school facilities that are both safe and equipped with the things that these special students need. A Special Development School is a school that assists students with profound to severe disabilities learning life skills that will provide them a better quality of future life. Placing these students in Special Schools or mainstream schools is not the correct way to assist these students.

Our organisation continues to hear stories from families who continue to face the challenges of their children enrolled in schools that are not sustainable for their children. This situation continues to occur due to the absolute lack of adequate Special Development School places within Melbournes west. In Melbourne’s west there are only 285 places in Special Development Schools.

Please come along to our Community Meeting tonight and support our campaign calling on the Victorian State Government to build a new SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL for Melbourne’s west as a matter of extreme urgency.
