In aesthetics these days, the regulations prohibit us from advertising anything related to schedule 4 medications. This can be difficult for the general public to understand however, there are some red flags that you need to be aware of when dealing with an aesthetic practitioner.
Things like:
- lack of consultation. If your practitioner doesn't do an indepth consult with you, Run!
- Following fancy trends. If your practitioner is suggesting treatments that are not suitable for you, Run!
- Professional space. If your practitioner comes to you, or invites you to a space that isn't clean and medically clean, Run!
- Informed consent. If your practitioner doesn't discuss all risks and side effects with you, Run!

It's important as medical practitioners that we uphold our standards and ensure all patients are well cared for.

We've been talking a lot about menopause and the effects on skin lately. Partly because it's something I'm dealing with right now but also because there is not a lot of info out there.
Looking in the mirror and not recognising the person looking back at you is daunting but the thing I've found is using collagen stimulating treatments and skin care have really helped.
Obviously every person is different due to genetics and lifestyle factors but it's always worth having a conversation about how we can help you.

M E N O P A U S E

* dryness and thinning skin
* sagging skin or loss of firmness
* increase in fine lines and wrinkles
* increased skin sensitivity
* poor wound healing and dullness
* acne breakouts and facial hair
None of these things are 'fun' - but there are things we can recommend to support you through this stage. Reach out for more info

Anyone who knows me well, know's that my birthday is an EPIC day in the calendar!

Celebrating the last year in my 40's this year. Things I've learnt in my 49 years -

*What I think of myself is more important than what others think
* Kindness is King
* Resilience, perserverence, courage and strength are among the qualities I value most in myself
* Laughing is good for the soul
* Surrounding myself with people who fill my cup brings me happiness

Most of all, I've learnt that taking risks can be scary yet bring reward, showing kindess is free, doing what you love means you never feel like you're working.

Celebrating another lap around the sun today - last one before the big 5-0! Here’s to 49 🍰🥂

We've heard a lot lately about the positive effects of weightloss medication but there are some downsides to this as well - SKIN LAXITY - or loose skin.

Rapid weight loss may give the skin less time to adapt to volume changes. As we age, skin elasticity decreases and hormonal changes can accellerate collagen loss and thinning skin, making the laxity more noticeable.

Good news is that there are multiple treatment options available to adress the volume and collagen loss. It's a conversation. It's education. Weightloss is an important journey for many people but there's no reason why we can't talk about other changes that occur with your face during this time.

As if we don't have enough to worry about in life, then we have 'self inflicted' factors that impact our skin as well. It's like the universe is chastising us for living our life!

But - if you're interested to learn how making small changes in your life can impact your skin health, keep reading!

Sun exposure, dietary intake - including sugar and alcohol, smoking and va**ng, sleep quality, stress, exercise, hormonal changes and skin care routine all impact the quality of your skin. Just tweaking a few of these factors can significantly improve the quality of your skin.

Menopause - the dirty little secret that many women suffer with in silence.

Many women notice their skin suddenly feels different in their 40's and 50's - thinner, drier, less firm and duller. This is not just related to ageing - it's a hormonal shift happening beneath the skin and the skin losing a significant amount of collagen.

Is this something you've recently noticecd? Yeah, me too! Let's have a chat to see how we can support you during this time.
