What a fun day today as we celebrated the AFL Grand Final with a Thursday Happy Hour. The lovely Trish Simpson Music led us through the team songs and created a wonderful atmosphere through music. There was a lot of bantering especially between the cats and lions supporters. But most importantly there were lots of smiles. Thanks to the Lifestyle team who did such a wonderful job with the decorations. Bring on Saturday!

A wonderful visit from entertainer Joe Casino this week. Residents (and staff) sang along to the music, recalling memories of times gone by. One resident shared with a staff member how she went to a wonderful concert and had a good sing. She went on to share how she used to go to dances when she was younger and enjoyed recalling the memories. Happy Days!

Today we welcomed a visit from students and staff from Julia Gillard Community College Werribee. This initiative allows students to interact with our residents in an activity based approach, today's activity being indoor bowls. The competition was fierce as the teams battled it out for ultimate victory, bringing a lot of noise and a lot of joy.

Welcome by Emily Keogh Chairman of the Manor Court Board

In the late 1970’, Werribee and the surrounding area was on the cusp of a population boom that would see it grow to the vibrant city we have today. A community spirit and sense of altruism that existed almost four decades ago remains strong even today and is evidenced through the many and varied charitable and fundraising events organised by local residents.

When the Rotary Club of Werribee recognised the need to provide affordable care for the elderly residents of the area in 1974, it was the start of a project that brought together a group of dedicated individuals.

The founding committee of management, originally known as the Elderly People’s Homes Society, was made up of Rotary Club and community members with the sole purpose of creating a facility where some of our most vulnerable people could find a safe caring environment in which to spend their final years.

As the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for Manor Court, I would like to acknowledge the countless hours and unwavering support of our past and current Directors, many of whom have served terms of ten years or more. I would also like to express my appreciation for the wonderful staff of Manor Court, both past and current.
