HOW THEY TRICKED THE WORLD INTO EATING ENGINE OIL AND AUSSIE FARMERS INTO GROWING SEED OILS.
By the late 1800s, thanks to the invention of the cotton gin, cotton production was booming, despite one major nuisance to producers. Cotton production resulted in the build-up of unusable, toxic waste from cotton seeds (a lot like the brewers yeast that has been repurposed as VEGEMITE). Although oil could be extracted from these seeds for various uses, the unrefined oil was acutely (immediately) toxic to both humans and animals when ingested. But then along came ‘ye old cowboys’ Procter and Gamble who took hold of it and transformed (or partially hydrogenated) the liquid cottonseed oil into a solid fat that was creamy and butter-like and sold it as a replacement for animal fats like lard, tallow and butter.
Popular Science wrote: “What was garbage in 1860 was fertilizer in 1870, cattle feed in 1880, and table food in 1890”
The butter-like byproduct of the cotton industry would soon become an everyday food in America and around the world including Australia, which rose to become one of its largest producers world wide. But is this really true-blue farming? or more like industrial chemical food producing?
In 2024 Australia produces between 2 to 3 million tonnes of oilseed crops each year, with canola and cottonseed accounting for over 90 per cent of total oilseed production, with soybeans and sunflower comprising a further 3 and 4 per cent respectively. We are told these are essential to a healthy diet. However, since the introduction of seed-oils we have seen a massive increase (from nearly zero) of heart attacks, diabetes, cancer and obesity. Now in 2024 we eat a FATtone of oil - corn, canola, soy & sunflower oil in over 85% of everything sold in our supermarkets. We are literally being fed engine oil.
How many of our Aussie farmers grow Canola with little to no understanding of how toxic this ruse is in our food-chain? Not to mention Canola in particular is devastating to our bee population. It’s another clever marketing campaign designed to make muula and f the consequences. It’s just like supplementing ingredients with sawdust and selling it as protein bars (which they do by the way) but as a wood-cutter, would you be down knowing you were feeding sawdust to your kids? I don’t know these days because it seems when it comes to farming, food, money and our childrens health no one wants to take any responsibility or put their hands up to change.
So is eating engine oil a good idea? I would think no. But it seems everyone else thinks its one of the best ideas we have ever had!

And to regenerate this mess we have to act with the maturity of mind to have big conversations without running off with our knickers in a knot.
