Lets talk about Endometriosis, something that Dr. Dr Muhammed Chothia our Women’s Health Doctor is super passionate about!

Endometriosis is characterized by several key symptoms that individuals should be vigilant about, including chronic pelvic pain, particularly during menstrual periods, pain during or after sexual activity, and heavy or irregular periods. Other common symptoms are fatigue, bloating, and digestive issues.

This condition can have long-term effects, potentially leading to complications such as infertility, persistent pain, and a heightened risk of autoimmune disorders and cardiovascular issues.

Managing endometriosis typically involves adopting anti-inflammatory lifestyle changes, such as improving diet, engaging in regular exercise, and managing stress. Additionally, hormonal treatments may help alleviate symptoms, and surgical options might be necessary in severe cases. Supporting gut health and focusing on reducing inflammation can also be beneficial in managing the condition.

Keep in mind that your health and well-being is important. We’re here to support you throughout. If you’re concerned about your symptoms, please book an appointment online via the link in our bio or call our friendly staff on (07) 3132 9191

Lets talk about PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) , something that Dr. Malini Bose our Integrative GP is super passionate about!

When recognising symptoms related to PCOS: Dr. Malini has recommend to look out for the following signs:
• Irregular menstrual cycles (when not using hormonal contraceptives)
• Hyperandrogenism: increased levels of male hormones, which may cause acne, excessive hair growth, and thinning hair on the scalp
• Ultrasound results showing a high number of follicles in the ovaries (though this is not crucial for diagnosis)

Significant long term associations and contributing factors include; insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, persistent chronic stress, environmental toxins, and gut microbiome dysbiosis. These factors can increase the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, sub-fertility, mental health issues, and cancer.

Looking into management principles with the aim to restore ovulation with regular cycles and minimising the risk of chronic diseases, can involve addressing the below:
• Lifestyle changes - diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, reduce environmental toxin exposure/detox
• Key nutrient deficiencies eg vitamin D, zinc, magnesium
• Gut microbiome dysbiosis
• Pharmaceutical medications depending on clinical context eg metformin, spironolactone.

Keep in mind that your health and well-being is important. We’re here to support you throughout. If you’re concerned about your symptoms, please book an appointment online via the link in our bio or call our friendly staff on (07) 3132 9191

Welcome back, Dr. Malini Bose! Dr. Malini will now be focusing on ‘Integrative GP’

Dr. Malini started practising integrative and functional medicine after experiencing the benefits through her own personal health journey. She has completed further training in specific nutritional approaches, including therapeutic carbohydrate restriction (low carb, keto lifestyles) and is also a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Malini has always been passionate about medical education, having previously taught at James Cook University and now currently being an academic tutor at the University of Queensland.
