Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, human & animal alike. To the mums, grandmothers, carers, nurturers & protectors who give comfort, guidance, patience & unconditional love every day… today we celebrate you 🙏

From the mothers raising children, fur babies, to the animals caring fiercely for their young, motherhood in all its forms is one of nature’s most powerful acts of love. 🌸💕

Working with children with ASD teaches us that oral health is never just about teeth. 💙

For many children, toothbrushing, water pressure, sounds & new sensations can feel overwhelming. Through play-based, sensory-informed therapy, we focus on building trust, regulation & confidence, one small step at a time.

Sometimes the biggest achievement is simply feeling safe at the sink. 🪥✨

Every small success builds toward lifelong oral health skills, independence & positive experiences.

Feeling the love today 💛✨
Such a special home visit with 2 beautiful little girls, these thoughtful gifts absolutely made our day. It’s moments like this that remind us why we do what we do. We love supporting families in the comfort of their own home, yes we do home visits for children too 🏡🦷 Thank you Brooke & girls for your kindness & warmth. Truly appreciated 🏡 🦷 🪥 💕

This week we spent time with our seniors focusing on the fundamentals of oral health for healthy living, particularly chewing, swallowing, & function. These are so often overlooked, but they play a huge role in nutrition, comfort, & overall wellbeing. A big thank you to Val & Kortney for having us & supporting such an important conversation; & we have to say… we definitely wouldn’t want to challenge any of the residents to a trivia competition they were absolutely incredible! 😅👏🧠 👄✨Logan City Council St Paul de Charters Residential Aged Care

Happy Auslan Day 🤟✨
Each year on April 13, Australians come together to recognise and celebrate National Auslan Day, honouring the language, culture, history and community of deaf Australians. A beautiful reminder that language goes beyond words, it’s about inclusion, expression, and understanding for all.

🌏 WHO talks about One Health.

One Health… One Mouth… One Body

The health of humans, animals, & our environment are deeply connected, & oral health is a critical part of that bigger picture.

When we talk about One Health, we’re not just talking about global diseases or pandemics… we’re talking about everyday health, including what happens in our mouths.

🦷 Oral health is influenced by:
🍏The food we grow & eat
🚰Access to clean fluoridated water
🦠Environmental exposures (like high sugar processed foods, & pollutants)
💊The spread of bacteria & antimicrobial resistance
🏡Social & community environments

👉🏼And importantly…
🫦The mouth is the gateway to the body.
🫀Poor oral health doesn’t just stay in the mouth, it’s linked to systemic conditions like heart disease, diabetes & infections.

At the same time, changes in our environment & ecosystems can increase the risk of disease, including those that impact oral & overall health.

💡 A One Health approach reminds us that:
To protect human health, we must also care for our environment, our communities & the systems that support daily living, including oral hygiene, nutrition & early prevention.

At Oral Health Home, this is exactly what we see every day:
✨ Supporting children and families to build oral health routines
✨ Reducing fear & sensory overwhelm & improving access through play-based care
✨ Creating healthier futures one smile at a time

Because healthier environments + healthier habits = healthier mouths… & healthier lives 🦷🤍

What a wonderful community collaboration 🙏🤍🦷

What a wonderful community collaboration 🙏🤍🦷

✨ Working Together for Healthier Futures ✨

At Play Matters, we are proud to collaborate with local organisations to strengthen outcomes for the families in our community. These partnerships help bring services into familiar, welcoming spaces and support families to build healthy foundations early in life.

Most recently, we welcomed Oral Health Home to our Encircle Redcliffe ECC playgroup to celebrate World Oral Health Day (March 20). Through fun, hands‑on activities using toothbrushes and role playing with toys, children were able to practise gentle brushing, take turns, and learn how to care for their teeth in a playful and engaging way. 🦷🪥

When our mouths are healthy, we can eat well, speak confidently, connect socially, and live without pain. Oral health is closely linked to overall health and wellbeing — from early development and confidence to long‑term physical and mental health. That’s why prevention matters at every stage of life, starting in the early years through:

🪥 Daily effective brushing
💧 Fluoride exposure
🥦 Healthy food choices
👩‍⚕️ Regular dental checks
💬 Early intervention and education

Play experiences like these help build early awareness of healthy habits and show just how curious, capable, and enthusiastic young children are when learning through play. By introducing oral health education early, we can help prevent pain, infection, missed learning opportunities, and loss of confidence — because the good news is, most oral diseases are preventable.

What truly reinforces the value of these collaborations is feedback like this from families:

“Thank you for having Carol there yesterday. It was a lot less stressful to have my son’s teeth checked there.”

Comments like these remind us why we do what we do — creating safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces where families feel comfortable accessing care, learning together, and building lifelong healthy habits. 💙

Thank you Carol from Oral Health Home for visiting playgroup and spreading awareness everyday about Oral Health!
We'd also like to thank Encircle Redcliffe Neighbourhood Centre for providing our families a safe & inclusive place to play and access vital services to thrive.

From our family & community to yours wishing you a safe, happy & blessed Easter 🤍

At Oral Health Home, we’re passionate about helping children & families build everyday life skills & healthy routines through play-based therapy & fun. By creating positive, engaging experiences, we support sensory development & help reduce fear & phobias often associated with oral health care.

As you enjoy special time together (& the chocolate too! 🍫), here are a few mouth-friendly tips to keep those smiles healthy:

🦷 Keep chocolate to mealtimes, fewer sugar exposures means less risk for teeth
🪥 Brush twice a day, especially before bed (this one matters most!)
💧 Rinse with water after treats, helps wash away sugar & acids
🍫 Choose quality over quantity, enjoy it slowly rather than grazing
😁 Don’t forget the back teeth, that’s where chocolate loves to hide!

Enjoy the moments, the laughter, & the sweet treats, while keeping those smiles strong & healthy.
Happy Easter 🙏🐰🐣✨

🌏 World Oral Health Day – 20 March 2026✨🦷

Every year on 20 March, the global community comes together to celebrate World Oral Health Day (WOHD) a powerful reminder that oral health is not a luxury, it’s essential to overall wellbeing.

This year marks the final chapter of the 3-year campaign theme:

A happy mouth is a happy life.”😊

Because when our mouths are healthy, we eat well, speak confidently, connect socially & live without pain. Oral health is deeply linked to general health, from cardiovascular disease & diabetes to mental wellbeing & quality of life.

At every stage of life, from infancy through to older age, prevention matters:
🪥 Daily effective brushing
💧 Fluoride exposure
🥦 Healthy food choices
👩‍⚕️ Regular dental checks
💬 Early intervention & education

Poor oral health can lead to pain, infection, missed school or work, & loss of confidence. But the good news? Most oral diseases are preventable.

As oral health professionals working in schools & communities, we see firsthand how empowering children & families with knowledge & practical tools creates lifelong impact. Prevention is powerful. Access matters. Equity matters.

🌏 This World Oral Health Day, let’s commit to:
• Making oral health visible
• Reducing inequalities in access to care
• Supporting prevention at every age
• Creating healthier, happier communities

Because truly; a happy mouth is a happy life 👄🦷👌🏼✨🤍

This little legend has taken about 12 months to build the confidence to try an electric toothbrush. For some children, new sensations can take time to feel safe & comfortable. This week he gave it a go & did so well. Moments like this might seem small, but they are huge steps for families. So proud of him. 🙌🏻💛

What a beautiful day of connection❤️ We began at Inala Flexible School supporting students with oral health education & practical tools for lifelong wellbeing 🦷🪥✨ by empowering young people with skills for self care, they can build confidence that extends far beyond the bathroom sink. The afternoon brought vibrant Lunar New Year celebrations with the wider community 🧧🥁 The lion dancers filled the space with colour, movement, & symbolism, welcoming prosperity, strength & renewal. As we enter the Year of the Horse 🐴 may it bring endurance, courage, & forward momentum for our whole community.
Community. Culture. Connection. Wellbeing! Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! 🎊
