So good! Who wants the Mad Foood Science incursion at their school?

For over a decade, we’ve been empowering students, parents, caregivers and teachers to taste with their to 👅 not their 👀.

And our signature Mad Food Science Green Smoothie never fails to win most people over. There’s always a line up of kids wanting seconds, thirds and even sometimes fifths 😂

We’ve lost track of how many parents have told us that their child who has never eaten anything green has gone home asking for it at home. That’s why we provide a handout to go home so they can continue the conversations and make the smoothie at home.

Check out these stats:
🌟 served over 72,000 green smoothies
🥤made over 3,500 litres of green smoothie
🍌used over 10,800 Aussie Bananas

The Mad Food Science incursion is at the heart of our award winning and university evaluated Making Friends with Food school partnership.

In the incursion, students also learn about eating a rainbow 🌈 of vegetable and fruit, why it’s important to tune in and listen to their body and ask what’s in my food, as well as learning about the connection between food and our amazing planet.

If you’d like your school to host The Mad Food Science Incursion, send me a DM and I’ll have a chat about the next steps.

Thanks for standing with us for children’s heath ❤️

EASTER SCAVENGER HUNT CLUES
An Easter scavenger hunt is always fun.
Remember that you do not need to go overboard with cheap chocolate. Along the way you could use some real coloured or painted eggs, pictures of eggs, Easter bunny footprints, a cotton wool ball, packet of seeds
For the main prize, other gifts can include an Easter cup or mug, egg cup, Easter books, a football (it is egg shaped too), cool weather clothes, even pjs!
Let us know where you think the clues can be found in the comments.
Happy Easter!

3 things I love about Zumba
- Dancing with comfy shoes - helps me to move freely and avoid soreness from non-comfy shoes
- Trying something new, being challenged and seeing everyone building their confidence
- Putting a smile on your face no matter what life has thrown at you!

What do you love?

INTRODUCING BRIGHTSPARK!

As you may already know, I do a bit of circus. I dabble in this and that in my 1 class a week, slowly building my skills, trying something new and finally this idea has come to fruition.

Thanks to Roundabout Circus I debuted my character ‘Bright Spark’, in a hoop performance to the song ‘You Are What You Eat’ by the Formidable Vegetable at their circus AGM. The board meeting was not boring at all!

Dressed up as the Easter Bunny, Bright Spark, challenged the social norm of giving chocolates at Easter, and instead gave out vegetables and packets of vegetable seeds which embrace the true meaning of Easter, celebrating new life.

The name ‘Bright Diets’, was actually inspired by Dr Who, who always believed people were clever, but just needed a bit of help believing in themselves to take action.

Bright Spark wants to be the spark to light the fire to help everyone to be clever about their food choices and that includes being more aware of why they choose to eat certain foods. It also involves standing up and using your voice to make our food environment and culture a health promoting one.

This month marks the 50th Anniversary of Dietitians Australia and I would like to use this opportunity to encourage everyone to add their voice to the Give Us An Ad Break campaign. The campaign is designed to raise awareness about how the amount of ‘sometimes foods’ promotion over the last 5 or so decades, has impacted our food choices, health and culture. I hope it starts the conversation about what regulations need to be put in place to put the community’s health before big business profits. Please add your voice:

https://giveusanadbreak.org.au/add-your-voice/

In the future Bright Spark plans to spread the seeds of making healthy eating messages fun through more circus and dance performances.
