“A well known Australian author and academic has suddenly died after suffering a lengthy chronic health battle.

Professor Gemma Carey, formerly the Director of Centre for Social Impact, and National Research Director for the Centre for Social Impact network with the University of New South Wales, had spent three years on extended leave for “long COVID”.

Professor Carey claimed to have sustained a serious injury from the AztraZeneca COVID vaccination in 2021, telling newsletter Crikey the jab gave her “functional stroke” symptoms.

“Every fine nerve fibre in my body became inflamed,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Her injuries were significant and left Professor Carey in need of rehabilitation so that she could read, write and talk.

As she endured the long-lasting effects, Professor Carey advocated for a vaccine injury compensation scheme, something that saw her become the target of online trolls and hate.

The online hate became so much that Professor Cary took “a leave of absence” from her social media and work.

“Due to harassment that has crossed form this platform into all aspects of my professional and personal life, I will be taking a leave of absence,” she posted on X.

My condolences to Gemma’s family.

Even in her death the media can’t be honest about her condition using the term Long Covid.

Gemma suffered from a Covid vaccine injury.

She had an autoimmune condition prior to receiving the vaccine but as we know both AZ and Pfizer reported missing information in regards to patients with autoimmune conditions.

MRNA/Vector drugs induce an autoimmune response not an immune response, so for the drug companies and TGA to not ensure adequate testing was done for people with autoimmune conditions is unforgivable.

In one of her last tweets she wrote:

“I believe we are past a point we should be using these vaccines. They do not prevent infection, the harms are significant and we have no concrete reliable data on the frequency of those harms.

Publicly - I no longer support the Covid-19 vaccination program. I won't.”

Gemma was a strong advocate for improving the vaccine injury scheme.

Like tens of thousands of other Australians she was gaslighted by the very authorities who approved the vaccine.

Sadly it seems she was also abused for fighting for the vaccine injured, namely recognition and better compensation.

It would be nice to think that the government could acknowledge her injury, suffering and death by acknowledging Covid vaccine injuries and providing adequate support to those who are injured.

I hope she can rest in peace.

“Prominent activist Monica Smit has been ordered to pay more than $200,000 in legal costs after a court found she was unlawfully arrested during anti-lockdown protests in Melbourne in October 2020.

Ms Smit was awarded $4000 in damages after two of her three claims were successful, but substantial costs were awarded to the Victorian government on Friday as she had turned down a pre-trial settlement of $15,000.

“We did get a fair hearing but I don’t think this is fair,” she said.

“Do you think it’s fair for someone from the public to win their case and then have a $200,000 costs order against them? I don’t think people know that this happens — I don’t think that people know that this is the risk people take to stand up to authorities — and now they’re going to know.”

The 36-year-old sued the Victorian government for false imprisonment in July.

The County Court of Victoria on Thursday ruled two of the three arrests were unlawful, as the government had failed in those instances to prove the elements required under section 458 of the Crimes Act for summary arrest.

Ms Smit spent 22 days in custody on charges of inciting others to attend the 2021 protest. Those charges were eventually dropped, and she was later found guilty without conviction of breaching Covid orders."

So let’s get this straight.

After getting unlawfully arrested twice by a totalitarian thug, Monica seeks justice only to be slapped with a $200,000 bill for doing so.

Just like our political system, our judicial system is sadly lacking in integrity.

It’s no wonder people are losing faith in our Institutions.

And Bravo to Monica for fighting the good fight. Your courage is to be commended.
