Grow Naturopathy

Grow Naturopathy Naturopath specialising in women's health conditions, pregnancy care, and children's health. I am degree qualified naturopath and remedial massage therapist.
(1)

I came to this work because I am passionate about helping people to be healthy and happy. Practising as a naturopath means helping my patients to develop their knowledge and understanding about their bodies (and sometimes health conditions), and guiding them to make the lifestyle and dietary shifts that will be beneficial for their long-term wellbeing. Additionally, we may use herbal and nutrition

al medicines to support treatment if required. I am especially interested in helping women and people with ovaries to feel heard, and like their health and wellbeing matters, no matter how big or small the issue. For example:
• Irregular periods and painful menstruation
• PCOS and weight issues
• Endomentriosis and Adenomyosis
• Menopause
• Fertility issues (female and male)
• Optimising health for positive pregnancy outcomes
• Supporting parents to raise healthy children
• Mental health and gut health
• Thyroid health

Please message me if you would like to schedule a discovery call or have any questions. Cecelia

Going to most or all of your fertility appointments alone? 👋

Fertility issues aren't just a lady thing. The baby is 50:50 egg and s***m, so he really should be getting involved. 💗

Here are six good reasons he should get invested straight away. 🤝

Also a quick note on "his s***m are fine": they might be "fine", but there is an ocean of difference between acceptable and optimal and what that can mean for how fast pregnancy occurs and how healthy your baby is. 🐥

Skin health is something I see quite often, and it is never just about the products people use. Although skin care can make a difference, the biggest piece of the puzzle is usually internal. 🚪

This is something I’ve experienced first hand too with gut health issues and eczema. ❤️‍🩹

My eczema was shocking at times while at university. I put a lot of pressure on myself through that time, and definitely didn’t always eat well. 🍫

I know how hard it can be, especially when the skin issues are on your face. I definitely used steroid cream a couple of times.

But the lasting solution? Reducing my stress and supporting my gut health with diet and lifestyle measures. 🥗🥖🧘‍♀️

A little life update. 💛 I’ve been a little less active on here as I’ve been negotiating dog parenting alongside running a business. World meet Tipsy, 5.5mo Beagle x who knows what - something with a lot of mischief. 🐶 I‘ve also been baking a lot of gluten free sourdough and figuring out what to do with the discard to avoid food waste. 🥖

Normal pathology results ≠ good pathology results. 🩸

If your results are "normal", it means you likely are not unwell, as your results fall within the range of 95% of average people (according to the lab reference range).

However, for some things in particular were can be quite a big difference between "essentially normal results" and what is good for your body.

Take iron for example, many labs set the bottom of the reference range for ferritin at 20-30ng/mL.

If your results come back with levels somewhere near there you might be told that your iron is fine.

However, chances are that if your ferritin is down here, you might be feeling a little average and tired. Evidence suggests that actually ferritin levels >50ng/mL are associated with better energy levels.

This is the case for many different nutrients and pathology markers, and they change by age and life stage.

If something feels off, it probably is. That's why I ask all my patients to bring all their previous test results along to appointments if they can – often by looking at how things have been over time we can pick up on patterns and get to the bottom of why you have been feeling the way that you do.

AMH or Anti-Müllerian Hormone is often tested during fertility treatment, but it has also been talked about a lot in the media. 📱

It has even sometimes been talked about as an “egg timer test” which is a bit of a misnomer as it is more complicated than that. 🤔

Each week Cecelia at Grow Naturopathy helps couples with their fertility and achieving pregnancy. 💗

AMH tells you how many follicles might respond to stimulation and develop to maturity for retrieval during fertility treatment. 🪺

AMH doesn’t tell you about the quality of your eggs. Which is arguably more important, as you need sufficient egg quality for fertilisation to occur in both a natural conception and IVF scenario. 🐣

So, AMH is one part of the picture. But it’s important to zoom out and assess other factors that affect egg quality like inflammation, healthy diet, exercise, circulation etc. 🏋️‍♀️🏃‍♀️🥗

If you need help with your fertility, talk to your health provider. An AMH test might not offer you what you were looking for.

Are you ready for a personalised approach to your health that isn't based on the next magic supplement, special diet, or protocol but instead considers your whole lifestyle? You're in the right place. 🩷

Long term wellness doesn't come from strict, rigid, and hard to follow diets, or complicated supplement stacks. 🙅‍♀️ It comes from making micro tweaks to your diet and lifestyle. 👌

But these won't be the same tweaks for everyone, because no one human is the same or has the same health history. 👩‍⚕️

That's why every naturopathy journey at Grow Naturopathy begins with a long appointment where we really get to know each other and your health journey. Your care is as unique as you are, because that is what you need to get better and what you deserve. 💗

Naturopathy isn’t an alternative to medicine. Each has its place.👩‍⚕️🌿

Health shouldn’t just be for the wealthy. Putting the onus on individuals to filter their water and eat organic won’t solve what is a systemic issue.

It is also nuanced. Doing things like eating organic and filtering water will be more important for certain people, in certain situations.

But I digress, putting unneeded pressure on people won’t make them healthier… I could go on for weeks!

What else would you like to hear about? 🤔

The supplements are not key to why you get better or achieve the outcome you’re looking for. 💊

The most important parts are:

🩸 Eating enough carbs and fats
🩸 Managing stress
🩸 Looking after your gut

Supplements are sometimes helpful for a period of time where there is a deficiency. Or particular herbs can be used to support the nervous system, or immune system, or hormones for a period of time.

But LARGELY they are not the reason people stay well. They are tool that should be used under guidance, and they complement dietary and lifestyle strategies. They are not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle.

Have you started to try for a baby, but you’re going to all the appointments alone?

In a heterosexual couple, your man is 50% of the baby.

He should be invested from day one.

Here are some things to discuss together that might get him thinking:

💕 S***m is half the baby so it’s important he looks after his health prior to conception

🤍 It takes 3 full months for s***m to mature, so to aim for a healthy baby he needs to prepare for at least that long

🍺 Even moderate drinking can damage s***m and reduce ej*****te volume

💔 DNA damage in s***m contributes to 50-80% of miscarriages

👩‍❤️‍👨 You’re a team, you’re much more likely to achieve a healthy pregnancy sooner if you work together to prepare.

At Grow Naturopathy encourages couples to actively work together on achieving pregnancy. That’s why they offer couples appointments to address both of you together.

I don’t buy the unexplained fertility stats. And no, not because I don’t believe in the heartache and pain in the inability to conceive and the recurrent loss. 💔❤️‍🩹

What I don’t buy is setting for “we just don’t know”. Because so often when I see couples like this, there are so many potential factors that haven’t been looked at.

🦋 Even slightly abnormal thyroid function can impact ovulation and implantation
🐠 In range s***m quality and good s***m quality are very different things
🧫 The vaginal (and endometrial and seminal microbiome) impacts implantation embryo survival
💕 Low progesterone can mean a fertilised egg doesn’t have enough time to implant and survive

And there’s so much more than this too. Nutrition and lifestyle play a massive role in fertility odds. 🎲

There’s a reason I offer couples appointments for fertility. It’s so that all of this can be covered and we don’t leave any stones unturned.

I've had more and more of you coming to me saying that you have "asked Chat GPT" or "run your results through Chat GPT". You haven't done anything wrong, I can completely appreciate your curiosity.

However, I think it is crucially important that we remember that Chat GPT and all AI actually, isn't really designed for critical thinking and interpretation of nuanced information like pathology results.

If we take Chat GPT too seriously with information like this, we could be actually risking our health. It has been known to make up scientific references, make health claims that are dangerous, and suggest treatments that are not supported by evidence.

It takes a lot of training to become a qualified health professional, and even more time to become skilled in interpreting pathology reports and applying the information to someone's health history.

If you have questions about something AI has told you about your health or some test results, please check with your practitioner. At the least it could help you to get better sooner, but in the worst case it could save your life.
