Apparently it’s my work -i -versary! Happy 3rd birthday to me and Genomic Health Clinic.
My journey as a private genetic counsellor started over 18 years a go when I had a vision of what a GC could do in private practice and how it could work, but the timing wasn’t right then, with the cost of genetic testing being prohibitive for the average person.
While I put my dream on hold I got to work on becoming a Certified Genetic Counsellor which took me 5 years, 20 long cases, 100 short cases, 300 supervision hours, 23 breakfast meetings, and to throw in an extra couple of challenges - a Master’s degree by thesis and one newborn baby and it was the best thing I ever did.
It has opened so many doors but best of all it has led me here. It has given me the freedom to open a private practice and bring my 25 years of experience to families and people who need care. So, I started a business and here I am three years later.
Here’s to bigger and better things, to creating the gold standard in private clinical practice, more collaborations and ultimately better patient care.
