Post-separation abuse is real.
Sometimes the control doesn’t end when the relationship ends — it just moves into emails, calendars, court orders, and children.
This is not always “high conflict” — sometimes it is one person continuing a pattern of control through the system.
In these situations, parallel parenting can be a protective strategy: limited written communication, strict schedules, clear boundaries, and each parent running their own household.
Not all abuse is loud. Some of it is administrative, persistent, and invisible to everyone except the person living it.

Beacon Truck – A Community-Led Mobile Soup Kitchen
The Beacon Truck is a mobile soup kitchen initiative initiated by Holistic Recovery and proudly supported by the local community, individuals, and businesses who donate food, clothing, and essential supplies.

The Beacon Truck operates every Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, located on Kable Avenue, near the Oval One, Tamworth.

You’re about to receive an email from your abuser’s lawyer, marked “urgent,” landing just in time to sit with you all weekend when you can’t access support—along with pages of overwhelming documents and carefully worded language that subtly paints you as difficult while minimising your concerns; and for someone who’s experienced domestic violence, this isn’t just stressful, it can recreate the same patterns of control and destabilisation—so take a breath, not everything marked urgent actually is, you’re allowed to pause, get advice, and respond, not react, because you’re not imagining it and you’re not alone.

Some dads out there are carrying anger, pain, addiction, or trauma that spills over onto the people who love them most. And when that happens, children feel it deeply. It shapes the way they see the world, their safety, and their sense of self.

This isn’t a post to shame you. It’s a plea.

If you know your behaviour is hurting your kids or their mother — please get help. Real strength isn’t pretending everything is fine. Real strength is admitting something needs to change and doing the work to become the father your children deserve.

Your kids don’t need a perfect dad. They need a safe one. They need a calm one. They need one who shows them that men can take responsibility, ask for help, and grow.

It is never too late to be the dad your children are hoping for. ❤️
