Farewell from Toodyay
fans

As my time in Toodyay comes to a close, I find myself reflecting with a full heart on the journey I've had here. This small country town has left a big impression on me — not just for its rolling hills, the Avon River and peaceful charm, but for the people who make it feel like home.
I have learnt so much about nature, seasons, water and whipper-snipping! I have loved the early morning mist and chilly -4-degree mornings. Winter has been delightful, cosying up by the fire, listening to the sound of rain on our tin roof. Watching everything grow at an alarming rate is a joy to behold for nature.

I have learnt to appreciate the beauty in a brown burnt land, but not the endless 48 degree days in Summer. I now feel blessed to have electricity, as when we had frequent blackouts I certainly didn’t enjoy coping without power for three days at a time in the middle of a scorchingly hot summer.

I truly appreciate how precious water is and now welcome the rains. Water is life, life is water. I didn’t appreciate losing my new driveway to flooding though! I could talk for hours about rain, the levels of my water tanks, how many ml’s we got last night and the taste of tank water compared to mains water.

I have developed a hobby of bird watching as we have so many delightful birds here in Toodyay. The fairy wrens are the cutest and smallest birds I’ve ever seen and the males brilliant blue in mating season is a sight to behold. From the magpies stealing the cat biscuits every day to the pink and greys at the front of the property and the 28’s in the fruit trees, I love them all.

And the Avon River is the life blood of town. When the Avon is flowing, the town is abundant indeed. I have spent a lot of hours watching, walking alongside and in Summer walking on the dry beds, I still as fascinated by it as I was when we first arrived.

Toodyay isn’t just a place on the map — it’s a community of kind, resilient, and generous souls. You welcomed me with open arms and gave meaning to the work I do. For that, I’ll always be grateful.

My Movement and Wellness Centre has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. I had a dream, and my gorgeous Husband and his best mate Steve, made it a reality. We built it and you came. It has been an honour to walk alongside so many of you in moments of healing, growth, and reflection. Thank you for trusting me, for opening up, and for allowing me to be a small part of your stories.

To the women with whom I collaborated, I am a better person because of it. Starting with Melissa from MelissaMade with Love. You inspired me to be a better person, and your collaborations were life changing for many of my clients. Your range of natural skin care and healing creams have become a must have in not only my daily life, but my clients as well. I thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

To W***y from , your intuition and ability to read people allowed for a spiritual awakening in many. I have enjoyed our friendship and all our collaborations as much as my clients did. I shall miss your infectious laugh and know you can read me like a book!

To Claire from Groove, I love your modality of healing through dance and feel honoured that I was able to hold space for your amazing sessions. You were able to bring out the raw emotion, energy and joy in us all.

To Heather Heather Clarke Energy Healing from Chakradance, it has been a privilege to be a small part of journey in to energy healing. A powerful modality that allowed the space for shifts in us all. I am so excited to see where you take this, and I know you will support so many on your journey.

To Jaycee Beat it Drum Therapy from Beat it Drum therapy, I absolutely enjoying the drumming circle. The emotions rise easily when you feel safe, supported and feel the vibrational energy from your drums. This session was an absolute favourite for me and my clients.

To Chris, my neighbour, friend and highly skilled Pilates instructor, as well as our resident Artist. Thank you for taking classes for me whenever I was ill. I have appreciated your support and your love of movement. You are an inspiration to us all.

To Elaine from Raindrop Fusion, my friend, mentor in essential oils and all round generous and giving human being. Thank you for your support, advice and wonderful sessions that we held. Your easy conversational style gave us the opportunity to learn more about healthy living and using essential oils as a daily part of our routine.

And finally, the amazing Bec from State of Being. I feel privileged to have had you join my community for a powerful session delving into energy medicine. Your manner, your vivacious and yet calming energy captivated us all. Your workshop has left us all for a blueprint into wellness that works, healing ourselves through daily practices.

To all my clients — thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support over the past four years. Your commitment to your own wellbeing, your openness, and your courage have inspired me daily. It has been a privilege to support you, learn from you, and witness the strength that exists within this community. Your trust in me has meant more than words can express.

To my special Ladies: Leanne, Shirley, Chris, Clare and Mary, our frequent catch ups at Dolly’s and the Pub have made us all firm friends, and I shall miss you all. Your love and support has meant the world to me.
Though I may be leaving town, the memories and connections I’ve made here will stay with me. I’ll carry the spirit of Toodyay with me, wherever the road leads next.

With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes, Trish. #

9 Pillars of Health
Number 6; Sunlight🌞

Exposure to the early morning sun with no protection, to allow sunshine absorption is critical for Vitamin D. Other benefits include:

🌞Promoting a sensation of well-being and improving mood.
🌞Boosting the immune system.
🌞Reducing pain.
🌞Promoting relaxation.
🌞Helping wounds heal.

We should not fear the sun. Without sunlight things would not grow.

Our bodies were built to make good use of the sun. Sunlight helps keep our sleeping patterns on track so we can stay awake by day and sleep soundly at night. Getting too little sun, especially in winter months, can leave some people prone to a form of depression known as seasonal affective disorder.

Get your daily dose of sunshine and reap the benefits.

9 Pillars of Health
Number 5: Movement!🤸‍♀️

Move your body every day in different ways. Moving doesn't have to be structured, indoors and set to a one hour time limit. In fact, doing a one hour class and then sitting all day, is not ideal for our bodies.

All the small things that you can do to move more, add up. These small tweaks all count in keeping your body moving more often.

🤸‍♀️Taking the kids or grandies to the park? Jump on the swings too!
🤸‍♀️Walking a bit further to your car.
🤸‍♀️Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
🤸‍♀️Ten to twenty air squats whilst waiting for the kettle to boil.

Our body craves movement. It assists with:

Movement helps us think, learn, and remember.
Helps maintain existing brain structures,
Helps slow age-related mental decline,
Helps us recover if our brain is injured or inflamed,
Lowers oxidative stress

Move your body more often, in different ways, at varying times to give yourself the best chance at long term health.

9 Pillars of Health
Number 4: Sleep😴

Do you wonder why when you wake up, you feel sluggish and tired? It maybe because you are not getting anywhere near enough sleep.
We have all heard that we need to get 7-8hours sleep a night. This has been around for years. However, these numbers are a bit outdated. Latest research shows that women ( menopausal and perimenopausal) need 9 - 10 hours per night!

How much sleep are you getting? Is it anywhere near 9 -10 hours a night?

Why the extra time?⏰
Recently in 2012, it was discovered that our brain has a waste clearing system, called the Glymphatic system. This system is responsible for eliminating soluble proteins and metabolites from the central nervous system. Besides waste elimination, the glymphatic system may also distribute non-waste compounds such as glucose, lipids, amino acids and neurotransmitters.

This amazing system has one requirement, that you are asleep. It is mainly inactive during waking hours. This really hits home on why we need sleep and enough of it. The brain depends on it. For every hour of sleep that you get before midnight, is a bonus for eliminating waste in the brain. Slow wave sleep, also known as deep sleep, primarily occurs during the first few hours of sleep, mostly within the first sleep cycle; meaning you experience the most significant periods of slow wave sleep early in the night, usually within the first hour to an hour and a half after falling asleep.

Interestingly your sleeping position matters too. Glymphatic transport is most efficient in the right lateral sleeping position, with more clearance occurring compared to supine ( on your back) and prone ( facedown on your belly) .

I firmly believe that if you fix your sleep, then you can fix most issues you have. If you're over 50 then now is the time to make sleep your priority. Why not start 2025 with extra sleep and see how you feel.
Get your zzzz"s on tonight!😴😴

9 Pillars of Health

Number 3: Nutrition

We all know the old saying, " You are what you eat". It turns out that this statement is 100% correct. What we put into our mouths, will be making up our DNA. We literally become the food that we eat.

Nutrition is the process of consuming, absorbing, and using nutrients from food that are necessary for growth, development, and maintenance of life. Nutritious food is critical to our wellbeing. Eating wholefoods and very little from a packet is the optimal way to source good nutrition.

Not only do we need to eat a wide range of colourful natural foods, but think about how we eat. Sitting down and having all of your focus on what you are about to eat, literally calms the nervous system, bringing us into the parasympathetic ; where we rest and digest, feed and breed. Eating slowly, chewing your food a lot. Enjoying and savouring every mouthful. All this counts to how our body processes this fuel.

Choose your hard. Do you choose your waistline, or your pocket?

It's hard to continually spend all your money on takeout and being broke from it.
It's hard to find the energy to cook every night and make nutritious meals.

Which will you choose for the 3rd Pillar of Health?

9 Pillars of Health

🌱Number 2: Minerals🌱

Our bodies require the right balance of minerals for homeostasis.
The body needs a balance of major and trace minerals to function properly. Major minerals are needed in larger amounts, while trace minerals are needed in smaller amounts.

• Calcium: Helps build bones and teeth, and is important for muscle contraction and blood clotting
• Phosphorus: Helps build and repair bones and teeth, and is important for nerve function and muscle contraction
• Magnesium: Helps with enzymatic reactions, DNA synthesis, and glutathione production
• Potassium: Helps maintain fluid balance, muscle contraction, and nerve impulse conduction
• Sodium: Helps with muscle contraction, nerve impulse conduction, and fluid balance
• Chloride: Helps maintain fluid balance in association with sodium
• Selenium: An essential component of various enzymes and proteins, called selenoproteins, that help to make DNA and protect against cell damage and infections; these proteins are also involved in reproduction and the metabolism of thyroid hormones.

Trace minerals
• Iron: Helps form haemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood
• Iodine: Helps produce thyroid hormones
• Zinc: Helps with cell division, immunity, and wound healing
• Copper: Helps with energy production and iron uptake from the gut

To get the right balance of minerals, you need to consume a wide variety of natural foods. Think colours of the rainbow for vegetables. Grass fed beef, hormone free chicken and wild caught fish. If you feel that you are still sluggish or have any other symptoms then you may need to look at supplements.

Taking supplements is only recommended after knowing exactly what you are deficient in. The best way to do this is through a hair sample analysis.
A hair sample for mineral levels is useful because it can provide a long-term picture of an individual's mineral status, revealing potential deficiencies or excesses of essential minerals and heavy metals in the body, which can be helpful in identifying underlying health concerns that may not be apparent through a single blood test, as hair accumulates minerals over time as it grows; making it a non-invasive way to assess mineral imbalances and potential exposure to toxins.

Balanced mineral levels help the body function properly by keeping bones, muscles, the heart, and brain working well. That’s why minerals are number two on the 9 pillars of health.

The Nine Pillars of Health

We are complex beings with surprisingly simple needs to maintain equilibrium. There are nine pillars of health, and today I want to talk about number one, Hydration.
Hydration is the leading pillar of health. We are bioelectrical beings that need to be hydrated and grounded. According to research, 80% of Australians are chronically dehydrated. This is due to Australia's hot and dry climate, and the fact that many people don't realize they are dehydrated.

When we are hydrated our lymph is flowing and we have intra cellular hydration. This allows our body to function optimally, prevent stagnation in our lymph, fatigue, brain fog and headaches. When we drink water, we don’t want a flush, but a hydration of cells,

How we choose to hydrate is also a factor. Making sure your water is filtered is one way to start the process. Not drinking from plastic bottles or buying bottled water, when we don’t know where that water has originated from, and you unknowingly ingest micro plastics from said water.

It’s about the quality of the water, not the quantity. Structured water, or living water is the method to ensure your water reaches your cells, which is called being bioavailable.

How do we make water bio-available?

🌊Adding minerals to your water in the form of Celtic Sea Salt. This salt has 82 minerals and lowers your blood pressure. As opposed to table salt that has one mineral and raises your blood pressure. The create a vortex, by mixing with a spoon.
🌊Using a drop of therapeutic grade, digestible essential oils.
🌊Charge the water with sunlight, then place in the fridge.
🌊Talk to the water; bless the water
🌊Use a slice of lemon, lime, or mint.

When we are hydrated, we are mentally sharp and focused. Our body moves freely both externally and internally. The hard part is the doing… however, once you start to feel the benefits, there’s no turning back.

Cheers to that!
