Media Rease

On 4 June 2025, the Albanese Government announced that the commencement of the new Aged Care Act will now be 1 November 2025, instead of the previously anticipated July start.

This decision follows sector-wide consultation and expert advice, with the intent to ensure a smoother transition. The extended timeline provides a critical opportunity for providers to:

Prepare clients for the changes

Support and train our workforce

Update our systems and processes

Engage with the finalisation of supporting legislation and digital infrastructure

The Support at Home program will commence from 1 November 2025, replacing current home care arrangements over time. Until then, existing programs such as the Commonwealth Home Support Program, Short-Term Restorative Care, and Home Care Packages will continue as usual.
