Happy Birthday, Chardy 🎉

Today we’re celebrating someone who brings so much into our space, not just through what she does, but through who she is.

Chardy is fun, grounded, and deeply dedicated. She has this beautiful way of really seeing the person in front of her, whether that’s a child, young person, or adult, and gently shaping her support around what they need in that moment.

She is such a steady and thoughtful support to everyone around her, and a truly valued part of our team. A strong advocate, she shows up with care, intention, and a genuine commitment to the people she works alongside.

Chardy is also incredibly creative and open, always bringing new ideas, trying different approaches, and continuing to grow in ways that quietly strengthen the support she offers to both her clients and our team.

We are so lucky to have you, Chardy 🤍
Happy Birthday ✨

We have our fish names 🐟

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to send through suggestions. We received so many thoughtful, funny, and creative names, it made choosing incredibly difficult.

So… we let fate decide. The names were drawn out of a hat (well… a wooden pot from the play therapy room!).

Our fish are officially named:

Our big fish
Henro and Goldie

Our little ones
Little Timmy, Baby Justin, Milk Kaby, and Baby Bob

We absolutely love the mix of personality in these names. They already feel like they belong here.

The fish are settling in beautifully and have quickly become a very loved part of the space. There is something quietly calming about watching them, and we are already noticing the gentle sense of connection they are bringing into the room.

Thank you again for being part of this with us 🐟

Racism is not always loud.

Sometimes it sits quietly in systems, assumptions, and everyday moments.

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we are reminded that this is not just about history.

It is about what still exists.
And what we choose to do with that awareness.

At Insight, we believe safety and connection must be felt by everyone.
And that requires more than intention.

It requires us to listen.
To reflect.
To challenge what we see.

Not just today, but every day.

If this has sparked reflection, these resources offer a clear and practical way to deepen your understanding and challenge common myths about racism:

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Leadership Training in Melbourne with alongside a group of incredibly thoughtful, experienced, and generous social workers including another Animal Assisted Therapist which was extra special!

I’ve come back feeling both grounded and stretched in the best way.

There was something really powerful about being in a room of insightful, knowledgeable minds, each bringing their own perspective, challenges, and reflections into the space. It created the kind of learning environment that stays with you long after you leave.

For me, it’s shifted how I see my own leadership.

It’s helped me recognise the strengths I already hold, while also gently challenging me to create more space for others — to step into leadership, to grow, and to shape the direction of the work we do together.

And that feels important.

Because the strength of Insight Therapies has never just been in the work we do with clients — it’s in the people who sit within it, and the opportunities we create for them to develop, contribute, and lead.

As I bring this learning back to the team, I’m also really aware that we’re in a season of growth.

We currently have three opportunities to join our team:
• Mental Health Occupational Therapist
• Accredited Mental Health Social Worker or Psychologist
• Administration Assistant

I’ll be sharing more tomorrow, including a video with a deeper look into who we are and what it’s like to be part of Insight.

For now, I’m just sitting with a sense of gratitude, for the learning, the conversations, and the reminder that leadership is something we continue to grow into, not something we arrive at.

🐠✨ The Fish Tank in the Playroom ✨🐠

There’s something quietly powerful about having a fish tank in a therapeutic space.

In the play therapy room, the fish tank isn’t just decoration, it’s part of the environment. Children pause. They watch. They breathe a little slower. Sometimes they narrate the fish’s feelings before their own. Sometimes they sit in silence. And sometimes the fish become the characters in the story.

This connects deeply with Blue Mind Theory, the idea (coined by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols) that being near water can calm the nervous system, reduce stress and support emotional regulation. Even small amounts of water, like an aquarium — can invite a shift from hyperarousal to softness.

In play therapy, we talk so much about co-regulation and felt safety.
What if the environment is co-regulating too?

I notice:
💭 Children who are anxious gravitate toward it.
💭 Big feelings slow down in front of moving water.
💭 Stories become gentler.

It makes me wonder…

Does anyone else have a fish tank in their therapeutic space or home? We would love to see some photos of your fish family members if you do and maybe some feedback on what difference having a fish makes or you, your family or your clients. Comment below with your photos or feedback 😊👇

Sometimes the smallest things hold the deepest therapeutic value. 🐟💙

This is the heart of everything. 🌿

Not fixing.
Not advising.
Not rescuing.

But creating moments where someone feels:

Seen.
Heard.
Valued.
Supported.
Welcomed.
Loved.

It sounds simple. It isn’t.

For many people, these experiences have been rare. Or inconsistent. Or conditional.

Healing doesn’t always begin with a strategy.
Often, it begins with a relationship where someone realises:

“I don’t have to perform here.”
“I don’t have to shrink here.”
“I don’t have to be anyone other than myself.”

In our work across Albury Wodonga, this is what we are committed to — spaces where people feel truly seen and heard, not just managed or measured.

And beyond therapy, this is something we can all offer in small, steady ways. In our families. In our friendships. In our workplaces. In our community.

Be the reason someone feels safe enough to show up as they are.

I love this... Such a small shift in the way we offer support — yet it can make such a big difference.

When someone is struggling, the question “What do you need?” can actually feel overwhelming.

Sometimes they don’t know. Sometimes they don’t have the energy to work it out.
Offering something gentle and specific can remove that pressure and make it much easier to say yes.

You might try things like:
• “I’m making dinner tonight, can I drop a plate around?”
• “Do you want some company while you sort that out?”
• “I’m heading for a walk later if you’d like to join me.”
• “I’m here if you just want to sit quietly for a while.”

Often it’s these small moments of presence and connection that help people feel a little less alone. 💛

Although well intended, sometimes “Let me know if you need anything” puts the pressure back on the person who’s already struggling. Offering specific support makes it easier for them to say yes.

Small, concrete offers can make a big difference.

This. 🤍

So often when people talk about “love languages”, we hear about gifts, words, time, touch.

But for many of the people we sit with each day — and perhaps for you too — love looks like something quieter.

It looks like safety.

Safety to be messy.
Safety to not have it all together.
Safety to say, “I’m not coping today,” without fearing distance or disapproval.
Safety to feel big feelings and know the relationship won’t disappear.

Emotional safety isn’t about perfection.
It’s about consistency.
It’s about repair.
It’s about knowing that when you show your whole self — not just the polished parts — you are still valued, still cared for, still held.

In our work across Albury Wodonga, this is often where healing truly begins. Not with quick fixes. Not with surface strategies. But with the slow, steady building of relationships where people can gather evidence that they are safe to be fully human.

If safety has been missing in your story, you’re not alone.
And it can be rebuilt.
