Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation Together, we can change the future for sick kids. We truly believe there is no greater possible impact for a donated dollar in kids’ health.

One of the largest and most trusted kids’ health charities in the country, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation exists to help provide all children with access to the best possible healthcare, whenever and wherever they need it. We have been delivering on this promise since 1986, raising millions every year for Sydney Children's Hospitals Network - including Sydney's two children’s hospitals at Randwick and Westmead, specialised care services, and cutting edge paediatric research, operating across NSW. A conduit, an enabler, and a mechanism for powerful change, we make sure funds raised go directly to the front line of children’s healthcare – from the hospital wards to the treatment rooms, the research labs to the outreach programs.

Some moments remind us of the power of kindness, the strength of community, and the lasting impact that gift in Wills can create for generations of sick kids.

The New Year is often a time to pause, reflect and dream about what’s ahead. Recently, we brought together two remarkable voices: Kate, a courageous young patient ambassador, and Keith, one of our generous Gifts in Wills supporters.

Ten-year-old Kate was a happy baby and loving little sister until her family’s world turned upside down with a diagnosis of liver disease. After two liver transplants, she is now thriving.

Kate and Keith share a special moment, drawing and dreaming about their wishes for the new year, reminding us that hope and kindness connect across generations.

This meaningful conversation was such a powerful reminder of how kindness creates a lasting impact, the way a legacy can shape the future, and how shared dreams connect generations.

Gifts in Wills help ensure children like Kate can continue to access world-class care, research and support delivered across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, creating lasting impact for future generations of sick and injured children.

From December to February, Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick (SCH) is home to our Summer Art Exhibition. The Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) Art Program brings art into hospital spaces to create moments of connection, reflection and joy beyond the clinical environment.

This summer, the exhibition celebrates the creativity and voices of young people from inside the hospital and across New South Wales, developed in collaboration with the SCH Music Therapy team, Flying High, Livewire, and the Department of Education.

On display is Flying High, an installation-based children’s art exhibition celebrating the limitless spirit of childhood. Created through art experiences facilitated by teacher, artist and holistic art therapy practitioner Janani Peiris. Elements of the original fundraiser exhibition, made by patients from across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network are included in the display.

The rotation also features For the Record, a teen-led exhibition created by Livewire patients aged 12–25. Responding to the theme of Memories & Nostalgia, the exhibition includes painted record clocks, album cover designs and curated playlists, that reflect the personal stories and musical influences of young people in hospital.

Alongside this is Operation Art, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Fifty artworks created by students from across New South Wales have toured regional galleries before arriving at SCH and will later find their permanent home at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Completing the summer exhibition is Listen with Your Eyes, a collaboration between the SCHF Art Program and SCH Music Therapy team, supported by the Australian Children's Music Foundation - ACMF. The exhibition features tambourines transformed into vibrant artworks by patients and their families, capturing the movement, sound and joy of making music together.

Together, this exhibition transforms the hospital space into a place of creativity and connection, reminding us of the powerful role art can play in supporting wellbeing. For more information about this exhibition visit: https://brnw.ch/21wYQZm

Last Christmas, we introduced you to Koby and Cooper, two little boys whose lives were saved by the extraordinary Newborn & paediatric Emergency Transport Service - NETS NSW teams. Today, we are sharing a joyful update.

Today, Koby and Cooper are thriving. Their days are filled with the kind of ordinary magic every parent hopes for.

Koby is heading into Year 2, has made an academy soccer team, and has discovered a passion for music after attending an AC/DC concert with his dad, which he described as the best day of his life.

Cooper is cheeky, fearless and full of curiosity. He is riding his bike without training wheels, loves exploring the beach, and asked for a motorbike for his birthday this year.

For their parents, Amanda and Michael, watching their boys grow and live the childhood they once feared losing is the greatest gift. They remain deeply grateful to the NETS teams who fought for their boys and the generous supporters who help make this lifesaving care possible.

Stories like Koby and Cooper's are made possible by the generous support of donors, helping families across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network experience more milestones and moments together.

Abigail's story reminds us how powerful expert care, research, and the generosity of our community can be.

This time of year can be difficult for children, families, and care teams spending time away from home — a season where routine and togetherness look different. Your support helps brings care, comfort and moments of joy to those who need it most.

As we come to the close of our Christmas Appeal, we're thinking of every child spending these days in hospital, every family by their side, and everyone who has given so generously.

Together, we can change the future for kids like Abigail across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

When 14-year-old Artaban fell down a rock face at his local beach in Manly, he was rushed to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. His injuries were life-threatening, and he needed six emergency surgeries in one night before being placed in an induced coma.

“We had to say goodbye,” shared Antigone, Artaban's mum. “Because at that time we didn't know if he would make it or not. The probability for him to die was more than 95 per cent.”

Over the coming weeks, Artaban had another six surgeries involving multiple teams of surgeons. His parents stayed by his side and were supported by staff while they anxiously waited for their son to wake up.

“We just discovered a new world of people taking care of others,” expressed Alexandre, Artaban’s dad.

On Christmas Eve, after four weeks in a coma, Artaban spoke his first words. It was a moment of hope that his parents will always remember.

Three months later, Artaban was well enough to go home. Today he is working, he is swimming, and he is surfing again.

"I think he’s been determined since the beginning. He’s always fought. He stayed alive and fought. He is a real fighter,” says Antigone.

We acknowledge the clinicians and staff at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, who are treating the victims of the attack with extraordinary care and professionalism.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those — especially children and young people — affected by this horrific event.

Imagine the heart-wrenching moment when, just weeks before Christmas, your child experiences a terrible accident, and the holiday season is suddenly overshadowed by fear and uncertainty.

For the parents of 14-year-old Artaban, this nightmare became a reality, when he fell down a rock face at his local Sydney beach.

Rushed to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, Artaban's injuries were so severe that it was unclear if he would survive. Doctors and nurses worked around the clock to save his life, performing six lifesaving surgeries in one night before placing him in an induced coma.

On Christmas Eve, thanks to the expert care he received and his own incredible determination, Artaban woke from his induced coma and was reunited with his family.

Three months later, he was well enough to leave hospital. Today, Artaban is back doing what he loves - swimming, surfing and playing chess.

You can support the care and recovery of critically sick and injured children across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, children like Artaban, by donating to Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation's Christmas Appeal.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity and Venues NSW, patient families were gifted tickets to the Nitro Circus show in Sydney. For one night, these families were able to step away from hospital routines and experience high-flying stunts, laughter and pure joy.

Being a child receiving treatment often means days filled with appointments, schedules and time away from the things that make childhood feel free and full of possibility. Moments like this help give children the chance to simply feel like kids again.

Teddy and his family were among the patient families who enjoyed this unforgettable experience, and his smile is a reminder of why opportunities like this matter so deeply.

We are so grateful to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity and Venues NSW for helping create these moments for the families we support.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) donors supporting the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, the redevelopment of Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and The Children's Hospital at Westmead is taking shape. Together, government and philanthropy are bringing this transformational redevelopment to life. These purpose-built buildings integrate clinical care, research and family-centred spaces within a modern environment to enhance the experience and outcomes for patients and their families.

Recently, donors who contributed to this transformation joined SCHF CEO Kristina Keneally for a special preview of the new Building B at Randwick. The visit offered an opportunity to observe the ambition of the redevelopment and experience firsthand how their generosity is contributing to the creation of spaces where world-class care and research will thrive.

Every gift is shaping the future of paediatric healthcare and helps clinicians and researchers to have the tools, technology and environments they need to deliver the highest standard of care for sick kids. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every donor for their generosity and for being part of this extraordinary partnership to change the future for sick kids.

Images feature donors who attended tours of the new hospital building including DeeDee Foundation, Kids with Cancer Foundation, Linda and David Penn, Medich Foundation, Melissa Lewis Foundation, the SCHF Board, and donors who attended the community and partners day.
