The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead

The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead is a purpose built treatment centre for cancer and haematological blood disorders at Westmead Hospital.

The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead is based at Westmead Hospital, and serves a large area across western Sydney, which is home to more than one million people. The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead is a purpose built state of the art facility which matches anything in the world. Completed in December 2007 and built at a cost of $27 million, the Centre provides fully integrated research, prevention, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation programs for patients and families coping with cancer. The Centre is an International ESMO-designated Integrated Cancer Centres and the only one in NSW and one of 3 in Australia. The designation is the highest honour given by the ESMO in recognition for achieving a high standard of integration of medical oncology and palliative care. Our Centre has been a leader in establishing multidisciplinary teams for improving patient care. These teams aim to discuss all new cancer cases that occur in our area. This means that every patient has the benefit of the expertise of many different specialists – without having to physically see them all. We are affiliated with the University of Sydney and the University of Western Sydney and place a high importance upon training the next generation of doctors and other health professionals. The Centre has a staff of 267 and includes 30 chemotherapy chairs with acute care beds and procedure rooms, 30 specialised clinic rooms, 4 linear accelerators, apheresis, high dose brachytherapy suite, specialist psychosocial support, clinical trials unit, familial cancer service and world class laboratory cancer research in melanoma, breast cancer, leukaemia, and ovarian cancer. Meet the CPMCC team working tirelessly to educate, advocate, and illuminate the truth about radiotherapy as we celebrates the first World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD) held in September 2, 2025. "One Voice for Radiotherapy"

What is WRAD?
WRAD is about amplifying our voices! The more people talking about radiotherapy, the more likely patients are to ask about it. Awareness can literally save lives. Despite its benefits, radiotherapy is still underutilised globally. Many patients don’t even hear about it as a treatment option.
