We'll keep you informed about events, educational opportunities and offer insight into our caseload community at Westmead Hospital. Welcome to the Westmead Caseload Midwifery page. Our page aims to keep you informed about community events, educational opportunities and offer insight into our Caseload community here at Westmead. We welcome all women and their families to our page. Westmead Caseload Midwifery promotes pregnancy and childbirth as a normal life event. We aim to provide you with continuity of carer, meaning you can know your midwife and develop a trusting professional relationship throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. Our Caseload Midwifery Practice consists of midwives who work together to help you have a smooth and safe journey through pregnancy to parenthood with minimal medical intervention. When it comes time for birth your midwife will discuss when to come to hospital and provide care and support to you during labour and birth. If you and your baby are well, you can be discharged home 4-6 hours after birth. Your midwife will visit you and your baby at home following discharge from the hospital. Home visits are provided for up to two weeks following the birth of your baby. If you are interested in Caseload for your pregnancy you should be:
• In good health, without medical conditions
• Planning to have a natural birth with no unnecessary interventions
• Prepared to go home with your baby between 4-6 hours after birth, if you are both well
• Living in Parramatta, Holroyd or The Hills Council Areas

We encourage you to contact us early in your pregnancy as we would like to begin your pregnancy journey and accommodate for your care. Sometimes our service cannot offer every woman a position in caseload however you will be referred to and benefit from one of Westmead’s other wonderful continuity clinics including our outreach and continuity clinics, where antenatal and/or postnatal care is offered by a known midwife. “This program is designed to support and empower you at have a birthing experience that you are involved in. It is educational, informative and the continuity of care offered by a midwife is top quality. It allows you to establish a trusted relationship with your midwife and allows you to feel extremely well supported pre, during and post birth. There is the added convenience of appointments in your own home and the staff work with you as part of a team”.

“The care was outstanding, compassionate, and life-saving. The team truly listens and advocates for their patients, and you feel genuinely supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The midwives and medical staff go above and beyond, and I would highly recommend the service without hesitation”

So pleased to announce the safe arrival of twins Carol and Kira. Mum Leena received care by the Dragonfly Midwives and Doctors through her complex pregnancy.
Midwives Haylee (pictured) and Tina worked hard to support Leena, who also spent time in Women’s Health Ward during pregnancy
They are so cute! ❤️💛🖤
Our Dragonfly program is a collaborative model of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mums and Bubs, with close monitoring by both Doctors and Midwives.

✨Janice appreciation post from Olivia ✨

I’m so lucky to call Janice my colleague, caseload partner, lifelong friend and also my midwife!
Throughout our years working together Janice really became part of my family.
We celebrated my son’s first birthday and had our own special caseload reunion with Janice - six babies she has helped into the world! We’re so grateful to have her ❤️
