Most people think exercise needs to be fast or intense to matter.

But the research tells a different story.

For those over 70, some of the most powerful walking health benefits come from something much simpler. Walking at your own pace.

No pressure. No targets. Just steady, comfortable movement that supports heart health, brain function and overall wellbeing.

It’s not about pushing harder. It’s about moving regularly in a way that feels right.

We’ve explored the science behind it in our latest Wellness Series article on our website now (link below). Or better yet, come and experience it for yourself with a walk through our village grounds this Friday at our Wellness Open Day!

Discover the walking health benefits for over 70s. Learn how gentle daily walking supports heart health, brain function, and overall wellbeing.

A simple cup of tea has always meant more than just a warm drink.

For generations, tea has brought people together for conversation, comfort and a quiet pause in the day. Interestingly, modern research now suggests that moderate tea drinking may also be linked with benefits for brain health, heart health and overall wellbeing.

Of course, one of the biggest benefits might be the ritual itself; taking a moment to slow down and connect with others.

We’ve explored what the science actually says about tea and healthy ageing in our latest wellness series article.

Did you know that getting your hands in the soil could be one of the best things you can do for your health?

Research shows that contact with a naturally occurring soil bacterium triggers serotonin production in the brain and supports immune function in ways that genuinely matter as we age.

For those of us who've always loved a garden, it turns out our instincts were right all along.

There's a reason the dinner table has always been where the important things happen.

Research now confirms what most of us have long known: eating with others is genuinely good for your health. Better nutrition, lower stress, improved mood, even reduced mortality risk.

It doesn't have to be a formal occasion. A neighbour invited in for soup. A morning tea that stretches into lunch. Two people who happen to be in the same space and decide to eat together.

At Cumberland View Retirement Village, those moments happen naturally. We've written about the science (and the joy) behind shared meals in our latest Wellness Series article. 🔗⬇️

Research shows that sharing meals with others can dramatically reduce mortality risk in older adults. Discover the Social Medicine of Shared Meals - why communal dining is one of the most powerful and enjoyable health habits after 70.
