What a perfect morning tea we all enjoyed yesterday! The sun was shining, smiles were everywhere as we came together to celebrate the farewell of an integral part of our staff and long-term team member, Drew.

Drew has been with us at Cumberland View for 15 years, supporting the community and keeping our beautiful 34 acres of gardens looking spectacular. We hosted a lovely morning tea with the community to honour his continued dedication to his role and the many meaningful connections he has built over the years with residents and staff alike.

It was heartwarming to see so much joy in one place, celebrating Drew’s achievements and wishing him all the best with his future goals. We are truly grateful to have had him as such a significant and valued member of our team.

He will be deeply missed by all!

Our Open Day is Coming! Thursday 30th October, 1-4pm at Cumberland View - and you're invited!

Come experience what village life is really all about. We're throwing open our doors for an afternoon of lawn bowls (no experience needed!) live music, and a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle. Take a wander through our beautiful village, chat with our neighbours about what life's really like here, and see our Community Centre and Village Green at their spring best. The birds will be singing, the gardens will be blooming, and there'll be plenty of friendly faces to meet.

Whether you're seriously considering a move or just curious about what modern village living looks like, we'd love to show you around our little pocket of Wheelers Hill.

Keeping our community safe

Last week, our new resident wardens and staff rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the boots of firefighters; learning, laughing, and practicing essential emergency skills.

This hands on session wasn’t just fun it was a vital part of our commitment to safety. By equipping our team with the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency, we’re building a stronger, safer community for everyone.

It was a fun and really valuable experience, and we all walked away with new skills and a much better deeper understanding of how to protect ourselves and each other.

Thanks you to everyone who took part, you made it memorable and fun and meaningful!

Seniors Week at Cumberland View

We’re having a fantastic week celebrating Seniors Week here at Cumberland View! From indulging in mountains of delicious homemade cupcakes to learning valuable tips during our driver safety presentation, the energy and joy around the community has been truly heartwarming.

This week is all about honouring our incredible residents - valuing their wisdom, their stories, and their lifelong contributions to society.

It’s a time to reflect, appreciate and most importantly, celebrate the vibrant individuals who make Cumberland View such a special place.

And we’re just getting started! With more activities still to come, we’re committed to making sure every resident feels special and appreciated, every single day.

Father’s Day Celebration – A Toast to Good Times and Great Craftsmanship!

Last Thursday, we came together to celebrate Father’s Day with a fantastic afternoon filled with laughter, great food, and even better company. The event was a hit, featuring a classic BBQ spread paired with beer and wine – the perfect recipe for a relaxed and joyful gathering.

A special highlight of the day was a visit from Michael, a truly brilliant woodworker whose passion and talent left us all inspired. Michael showcased a stunning collection of handcrafted woodwork pieces, each made entirely by hand using only wood and glue – no nails, no screws, just pure craftsmanship. His dedication to traditional techniques and attention to detail brought a unique charm to the event.

It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate not only the fathers in our community but also the artistry and creativity that make these moments memorable.

Thank you to everyone who joined us – and to Michael for sharing his incredible work. Here's to more celebrations that bring us together!
