Catching only half the yarn? Let’s check your hearing.

Hearing can change for lots of reasons, and it happens to plenty of people. The good news is there are lots of ways we can help.

A hearing check can help you:

• Stay connected – Keep up with the yarn and enjoy being part of conversations
• Feel less tired – Your brain won’t have to work so hard trying to hear
• Stay safe – Hear things around you like passing cars, smoke alarms and people calling out
• Look after your brain – Healthy hearing helps keep your brain healthy as you get older

Want to hear more? Come have a yarn with us.

Some viruses can live in the blood.

They can spread if blood from a person living with the virus enters another person’s bloodstream.

This can sometimes happen through things like:
• sharing a home tattoo gun or piercing equipment
• helping someone who is bleeding when you also have an open cut
• sharing injecting equipment
• sharing a razor

At Nunyara, we offer free testing for blood-borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections.

Testing is quick, confidential and a good way to stay on top of your health.

If something does show up, don’t stress. There are effective treatments and support available.

Come have a yarn with us if you’d like to know more.

What a deadly couple of hours at Nunyara yesterday 🌿

Community came together for a relaxed but important yarn about bowel health, with Jodi Lee Foundation and Gavin Wanganeen leading the yarns in a way that was real, honest and easy to connect with

Around 100 people dropped in, including Elders, families and kids. There was plenty happening, smoothies on the bike 🚴🏾‍♀️, BBQ, fruit skewers 🍓, fresh veg and dips 🥕 and a good steady flow of coffee ☕ keeping everyone going.

Importantly, people stayed for the yarn which was deadly💬

The conversation covered bowel cancer risk factors, the importance of screening and early detection and simple ways to stay healthy. It opened up space for people to ask questions, have a yarn and take something useful away for themselves and their families.

Clinic staff were on hand throughout, making it easy for people to:
• Get their flu jab 💉
• Access nasal spray vaccines for kids 👃🏾
• Register for a free bowel screening kit 📬

A big moment for the day, Aunty Yvonne Abdulla heading home with the signed Guernsey 👏🏾

Huge thanks to the whole Nunyara team for making the day what it was and a special shout out to Jeanette, Health Promotion and Support Officer – Cancer Program, for creating a space where community could connect, learn and feel comfortable.

Days like this make it easier for mob to take the next step in looking after their health, in their own time and in their own way

🚗💬 10 Years of Uncle Murray! 💬🚗

If you’ve ever been in the car with Uncle Murray, you’ll know that you’re guaranteed to get to your appointment on time and hear a good story along the way!

For 10 years, Uncle Murray has been the friendly face behind the wheel – reliable, always smiling, and always showing up for our clients.

Rain, shine, or a busy day at the clinic – he’s there.

Thanks for everything you bring to Nunyara, Uncle Murray. We appreciate you more than you know. Well done from all of us at Nunayra on your 10 year milestone this week 👏🏾

Flu season is here - now’s a good time to get your flu shot.

For some people the flu just means feeling a bit crook for a week, but for others it can make them really unwell – especially older people in our community, little ones, mums-to-be and people living with other health conditions.

Getting your flu vaccination is a simple way to help protect yourself, your family and your mob this winter.

When more of us are protected, it helps keep our whole community healthy.

Drop by Nunyara to get your flu shot or come have a yarn with our team if you have any questions.
