Dear all,
I have received an email today about an exciting news for senior residents of Castle Cove and Willoughby area. It is a wonderful initiative by Sydney North Primary Health Network and local Councils in the region.
Normally, for senior residents to receive FREE transport for health and social activities under Federal Aged care package. There is a long wait of 1-2 years. The current waitlist for our region is 6 months plus just for an assessment of eligibility. For senior residents who are recovering from recent falls, acute illness or hospital admission have no access to FREE transport for years. Now it is changing! It is also much safer than using public transport themselves or Uber.
I know a lot of the senior residents do not have access to social media. It will be helpful for their families, friends and neighbors who see this post and pass on the message. Thank you.

I bring you exciting news to those who do not have community transport as part their My Aged Care Services Package.
For example, if you live in Castle Cove, this service can enable you to visit your doctor in North Sydney and attend social activities at MOSAIC in Chatswood.
This is a trial program and it is important that they have enough demand to sustain and potentially turn it into a long-term service. Please read the information and contact them to find out if there is a local provider near you.
Free Community Transport Early Intervention Program
This program is setup to help 65+ age group community members access their local health, wellbeing, and social programs. The program has expanded and revised their eligibility.
Revised eligibility for the program:
· live in any of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the Sydney North PHN region.
· are over 65 years of age, or 40 years of age for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
· are NOT currently accessing community transport through My Aged Care
Clients will be entitled to:
· Access free Community Transport for the purposes of accessing your local health, wellbeing, and social programs/events.
