Baked by Fiona is located in Willoughby on Sydney's lower North Shore. I bake my cakes and pastries from scratch, and the buttercreams, ganache, icings and fillings are also made using the freshest of ingredients (there are no packet/premixes used in my kitchen). Each cake I create is different and made individual for my cake loving friends and family. Please let me know if I can bake you a cake or pastries for you. Send me an email with details of your event, number of people you'd like to serve and your contact details. Cake pick up is from Willoughby.

I’m opening up cake orders again for March, April and May.

I am taking limited bookings for cakes/baking for Fridays and Saturdays ONLY. If you’d like a cake for a Sunday event, it will be collected on the Saturday. It’s best to book in 3-4 weeks in advance.

I get a lot of enquiries for fondant covered themed or shaped cakes. I bake buttercream cakes only, please take the time to look at the gallery on my website to see the style of cakes I bake before sending your enquiry.

Please note:
• 4-5 March is booked out. I’m baking lemon meringue tarts and frangipane tarts on this weekend… if you’d like one, please email me and I can add one to my baking.
• 18-19 March is fully booked. I’m baking cupcakes that weekend, if you’d like a box of cupcakes… please email me.

Please don’t DM me on Instagram or message me through Facebook. I have a contact form on my website (link in profile), and my email can be found there too.

Get in touch if you’d like or need cake over the next 3 months. 🎂

Final note: I won’t be baking in June or early July. I’ll be on the Greek islands! Yes, I’m serious, I’ve already booked and I wont be in Sydney. 😊

Thank you. It’ll be lovely to be baking again and I think it’s the right time to start up again.

Cheers
Fiona xx

Trying something new. I baked a couple of fougasse today.

We’re planning to fire up the wood fired pizza oven at my community garden in a couple of weeks. And we’re trying to think of things to bake/make. This suggestion came up so I just had to try make a couple. I think they’d be delicious baked in the wood fired oven.

Fougasse are the French cousin to the focaccia. The recipe I tried was from website. It’s loaded with fresh herbs from my garden. 🪴🥨😍

Seeing one of my food photos pop up in my feed is always a little exciting.

This was one of many images I styled and photographed for delicious Christmas range about 2 years ago (or maybe it was 3 years?).

These are the plum pudding truffles, be sure to check them out. 😋🎄😋

I became a great-aunt last month. Sadly, due to lockdown, I’m yet to meet this beautiful little man.

Thanks to lockdown, though, I have pulled the crochet hooks and yarn out of the cupboard. The first project I made was a little granny square rug for him.

I was also excited to have an excuse to order one of Sonia’s gorgeous crochet toy animals.

Despite Sonia and I living hundreds of kilometres apart, we coordinated our yarn colours and this little combo is the result.

Now I wait for some news when our restrictions are lifted and I can meet little Ollie and see my niece and her husband again. Soon, hopefully soon. 🙂

I’m wondering if anyone needs some caramel slice in their life to get them through the next few weeks of Sydney lockdown?

I’m thinking of making more… cause it’s been pretty good for us this week.

Let me know, and I’ll think about it. 🤔😬😂 Obviously only locals close to me (Willoughby), and safe hand over would be arranged.

Back to baking sourdough loaves.

I was sent a new recipe from a fellow baker/chef which I used, with a combo of techniques (basically I was winging it). It was baked in a lidded cast iron pot which I’ve decided is my favoured baking vessel for my loaves.

It’s yummy, with a good flavour and a tight crumb but it isn’t dense. Density has always been my issue. I’ll be using this recipe again.

My sourdough starter is well over a year old. It lives in the fridge a lot, then I bring it out and feed it up when I’d like to bake with it.

I’ve also ordered crumpet rings, so sourdough crumpets are also on the list to make.
