Hawaiian Kahuna Bodywork & Pregnancy Massage with Kacie Walker
WHAT ARE THE ORIGINS OF KAHUNA BODYWORK ?
Kahuna Bodywork was created by respected elder and Hawaiian native Kahu Abraham Kawai’i. It’s foundations lie in knowledge of ancient principle, taught to practitioners through a martial art-style practice called Ka’aleleau. Kahuna Bodywork training facilitates the development of Self and the increased capacity to meet and move with all that you are.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A KAHUNA BODYWORK SESSION ?
The client lies face down on the bodywork table covered with a sheet. Long flowing strokes are then applied to the body using the soft part of the forearm in a motion similar to tai chi. These massage like strokes are applied in rhythm with music.
Through the use of leverage, posture, sensitivity and motion the practitioner performs the bodywork like a dance upon the whole body. This dynamic massage-like modality unblocks energetic pathways, dissolves tension and creates space for the innate wisdom of ones being to come forward.
Deeper work may involve specific focus and deep point pressure using leverage to release muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joint movement techniques. These movements are applied without force and a pain free state is maintained.
BENEFITS OF KAHUNA BODYWORK
- Release of muscle tension, stiff necks and headaches
- It is wonderful if you feel tied physically and in need of a thorough bodywork
- Increase circulation and lymphatic flow (promotes drainage)
- Increase in serotonin (feel good hormone)
- Stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system evoking deep relaxation
- Assits clients to meet life challenges and times of transistion with more ease and grace
- Facilitates a deeper connection with self
- Enhances ones sense of wellbeing when feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted
HOW IS KAHUNA BODYWORK DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR MASSAGE ?
Unlike massage Kahuna Bodywork is performed without the intention to fix anything. Rather it is performed with the understanding that what we embrace completely naturally moves into greater coherence with the whole.
The rythmical application of strokes in a tai chi like motion are performed with Ki energy. This allows for change at an energetic level. It connects the body to itself, balances the hemispheres of the brain, and encourages the synchronising of breath and heart beat almost immediately. This does not occur during regular massage.
