Medication and Neck Pain

While pain medications may offer temporary relief from neck pain, multiple studies reveal opioids, prescribed for this purpose, DO NOT relieve acute low back or neck pain (lasting up to 12 weeks), and may even exacerbate the condition, leading to increased pain.

Adjust your thinking and join the National Spinal Health Week ‘Movement’ (26 May – 1 June). To get the heads up on tech neck, access FREE resources, and consult an ACA chiro for drug-free pain relief visit👉 www.spinalhealthweek.org.au.

ITS SPINAL HEALTH WEEK...
And we are emphasising TECH NECK 😧

📱 Don’t let Tech be a Pain In The Neck!

Neck pain? You might be experiencing tech neck - a growing musculoskeletal disorder caused by poor posture and overuse of mobile phones, tablets, and computers.

When we spend too much time with our heads tilted forward using devices, it places repeated stress on the cervical spine. Over time, this can lead to Tension Neck Syndrome – more commonly known as Tech Neck or Text Neck.

Non-ergonomic setups at home, school, or work can make it worse. And with 95% of Aussies using smartphones, tech neck is more common than ever.

If you suffer neck pain join the Spinal Health Week Movement (26 May – 1 June) and take proactive steps to prevent tech neck! 👉 Visit www.spinalhealthweek.org.au for FREE resources including fact sheets, guides, and podcasts, or to consult an ACA chiro for drug-free pain relief.

💥 End-of-Day Headaches? Here’s Why & How Chiropractic Care Can Help! 💆‍♂️

Do you feel a pounding headache creeping in by the end of the day? It could be caused by:

🔹 Poor posture & slouching – Sitting for long hours with your head forward puts strain on your neck and spine.
🔹 Neck & spine misalignment – When the spine is out of alignment, it can create tension and irritation in surrounding muscles and nerves.
🔹 Too much screen time – Prolonged use of digital devices can lead to eye strain and tension headaches.
🔹 Stress & muscle tension – Tight neck, shoulder, and upper back muscles can contribute to tension headaches.
🔹 Dehydration – Not drinking enough water reduces oxygen flow to the brain, triggering headaches.

💡 The good news? Chiropractic care can help! 💡

✅ Gentle spinal adjustments realign your spine, relieving nerve pressure and tension.
✅ Soft tissue therapy reduces muscle tightness in the neck, shoulders, and upper back.
✅ Postural corrections & ergonomic advice help prevent daily strain.
✅ Improved circulation & nerve function reduces headache frequency and severity.

Instead of masking the pain with medication, get to the root cause! A chiropractic check-up can help you take control of your health and say goodbye to daily headaches.

✨ Why Magnesium is a Must-Have Mineral for Your Health! ✨

Magnesium might not always get the spotlight, but it’s essential for so many of your body’s key functions! Here’s why it matters and how it keeps you feeling your best:

🔸 Boosts Energy Levels
Magnesium is crucial for energy production in cells, helping turn food into fuel. Without enough magnesium, you’re likely to feel fatigued, as it’s essential for the ATP (adenosine triphosphate) that powers your cells!

🔸 Eases Muscle Tension and Reduces Cramps
Magnesium helps relax muscles and prevents painful cramps or spasms, especially after exercise. It’s great for anyone active, as it speeds up recovery and helps reduce soreness.

🔸 Supports Heart Health
Magnesium helps regulate blood pressure, relaxes blood vessels, and maintains a steady heart rhythm. It’s key to cardiovascular health and can reduce the risk of heart disease by supporting healthy blood flow and blood pressure.

🔸 Strengthens Bones and Supports Bone Density
About 60% of your body’s magnesium is stored in bones, where it works alongside calcium and vitamin D to keep them strong. Magnesium can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis by improving bone density.

🔸 Improves Sleep and Relieves Stress
Magnesium regulates neurotransmitters that affect mood, like serotonin, and helps produce melatonin for quality sleep. Many find magnesium helpful for reducing stress, anxiety, and improving sleep.

🔸 Helps Regulate Blood Sugar and Insulin Levels
Magnesium plays a role in blood sugar control, enhancing insulin sensitivity and helping stabilise blood sugar levels. This is especially important for those with metabolic conditions or at risk of type 2 diabetes.

Where can I get Magnesium:
Get magnesium from leafy greens, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes. If you’re struggling to get enough, consider a supplement.

Want to know more? Talk to your chiropractor about the benefits of magnesium and whether it’s right for your health goals. They can provide personalised guidance on diet, supplements, and lifestyle for optimal wellness. 🌿💊

Experiencing jaw pain can be quite frustrating and can disrupt daily life with discomfort, clicking, or even locking of the jaw.

Some common causes include:
🔸Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD): This occurs when the joint connecting your jaw to your skull becomes inflamed or misaligned, leading to pain around the jaw, ears, or temples, and is sometimes accompanied by clicking or popping sounds when opening or closing your mouth.
🔸Grinding or Clenching of teeth (Bruxism): This often occurs at night (but can happen during the day), leading to sore jaw muscles and can sometimes cause wear on your teeth as well. Stress is a common trigger for bruxism.
🔸Dental Issues: Toothaches, abscesses, or misaligned teeth can also lead to jaw pain.
🔸Sinus Problems: Sinuses are located near the jaw, so sinus infections or congestion can sometimes create referred pain in the jaw area.
🔸Injury or Trauma: Any recent trauma to your jaw, such as from a sports injury, or car accident, could result in bruising or a fracture, leading to pain.
🔸Arthritis: Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can affect the jaw joint, causing stiffness and discomfort, especially during movement.

Chiropractic care can be highly beneficial for jaw pain, especially when it comes from musculoskeletal issues like TMD, muscle tension or arthritis.

Here are some specific perks:
🌿Improved Joint Alignment and Mobility: Chiropractic adjustments can help restore proper alignment to the spine and jaw, relieving tension and allowing the joint to move more smoothly.
🌿Relief from Muscle Tension and Trigger Points: Chiropractors can use manual therapies to release tension in the muscles around the jaw, neck, and upper back. This can relieve pressure on the temporomandibular joint and reduce pain.
🌿Drug-Free Pain Management: Chiropractic care provides a non-invasive, drug-free option for pain relief. Adjustments, soft tissue work, and exercises can address the underlying cause of pain without medication.
🌿Stress Reduction: Stress can be a major contributor to jaw pain, chiropractors often incorporate relaxation techniques, stretches, and lifestyle advice to help manage stress and prevent teeth clenching or grinding.
🌿Posture Correction: Poor posture can exacerbate jaw pain, particularly if forward head posture or rounded shoulders are placing extra strain on the jaw. Chiropractic adjustments and exercises can improve posture, reducing the risk of jaw pain.
🌿Holistic and Preventive Care: Chiropractors focus on the whole body, looking at how different areas like the neck, back, and jaw interact. This thorough approach can provide long-lasting relief and prevent future issues.
🌿MLS Medical Laser therapy targets inflammation and accelerates healing, thus providing effective, non-invasive relief for jaw pain by promoting tissue repair and reducing discomfort.

Chiropractic care offers a natural and effective approach to managing TMD, helping to relieve jaw pain, improve joint function, and support lasting relief.
