Happy Mother's Day!

Today, we celebrate all mothers and motherly figures. Our nurturers, protectors, safe places, advocates, and quiet (or sometimes not so quiet) supporters who give so much of themselves every single day.

For those navigating grief, loss, infertility, estrangement, disappointment, or complicated relationships today... we see you too.

Whether today is one of celebration, reflection, sadness, gratitude, or simply getting through the day, we are holding space for all experiences. Whatever today looks like for you, our community of mums is right here with you!

From all of us at The Daisy Clinic, we send love, kindness and care🌼

Daylight Saving Is Ending: Helping Children Adjust to the Time Change

Daylight saving is coming to an end, which means the clocks will move back by one hour. While adults often enjoy the extra sleep, the change can sometimes disrupt children’s sleep routines.

Here are some simple tips to help your child adjust smoothly:

1. Gradually adjust bedtime
A few days before the time change, try shifting bedtime earlier by about 10–15 minutes each night. This helps your child’s body adjust more gently.

2. Keep the bedtime routine consistent
Maintain the same calming bedtime routine each night (bath, story, quiet time). Familiar routines help signal to the brain that it is time to sleep.

3. Get plenty of daylight in the morning
Exposure to natural light in the morning helps reset the body’s internal clock and supports healthy sleep patterns.

4. Limit screens before bed
Reduce screen use at least an hour before bedtime, as blue light can interfere with sleep hormones.

5. Be patient with the transition
Some children may take a few days to adjust. Temporary changes in sleep or early waking are common while their body clock resets.

Sleep plays an important role in children’s learning, behaviour and emotional regulation, so supporting healthy sleep routines can make a big difference.

If you have ongoing concerns about your child’s sleep, behaviour or emotional regulation, our team at The Daisy Clinic can help.

Ever wondered why your child can seem so bright in some areas… but struggle in others?

Giftedness isn’t just about being “smart” or doing well at school. It’s about how a child thinks, learns, and experiences the world.

Gifted children often:
✨ Learn quickly and ask deep, complex questions
✨ Show intense interests or passions
✨ Think creatively and outside the box
✨ Feel emotions very strongly

But here’s the part many people don’t realise…

Some gifted children also experience challenges with attention, behaviour, learning, or emotions. These children may be twice-exceptional (2e), meaning they are both gifted and have an additional difficulty such as ADHD, ASD, or a learning disorder.

Because of this, they are often misunderstood as:
❌ Lazy
❌ Not trying
❌ Behavioural
❌ “Average”

When in reality, they have a unique profile of strengths AND challenges.

The most accurate way to understand your child’s abilities is through a comprehensive assessment, including an IQ test, which helps identify both their strengths and areas where they may need support.

💡 When children are truly understood, everything changes, their confidence, their engagement, and their ability to thrive.
