42 years strong! 🎂

Founded by volunteers in response to the emerging HIV/AIDS crisis, Thorne Harbour Health was built on a legacy of activism, a legacy that still drives us today.

Over the years, we’ve evolved to meet the most pressing health needs of our communities. Despite funding cuts and a shifting global landscape that deprioritises HIV services, we continue to grow.

In the past year alone, we’ve expanded our mental health, family violence, and financial counselling services, meeting rising demand during a cost-of-living crisis.

We remain accountable to the communities we serve and are committed to building an adaptable, community-led organisation, whatever the future may hold.

How will you mark World AIDS Day?

Lace up your runners and rally your team, because the Red Ribbon Run returns in 2025!

Walk, jog, or run 3.6km, 7.2km, or 10.8km at your own pace on an untimed course. However you move, you’ll be raising vital funds for Thorne Harbour Health’s HIV services and reminding your community that HIV Still Matters.

While HIV transmission rates are low in Australia, global funding cuts (including to many of our regional neighbours) highlight that the fight is far from over. The Red Ribbon Run is a new way to engage with this ongoing activism and reflect the changing health needs of people living with HIV. Today, many people with HIV live long, healthy lives, and this event celebrates that progress.
