The key thing here is not age but that your glasses prescription is stable. πŸ‘“

For some people this occurs early in life and they may be able to have laser treatment done at age 18.

For others, they are still changing in their early twenties.

It is not that it is dangerous to do laser treatment on a changing prescription but that if we are aiming for a moving target then in a few years, you may be disappointed that your vision is not as crisp as it was straight after treatment due to the change.πŸ€”

Dr Ben LaHood would prefer your prescription to be stable for 6-12 months before considering laser vision correction.βœ”οΈ

This is something that you can discuss at your appointment and bringing in your current prescription can be very helpful to compare to what we measure in clinic.

This and other questions are answered at www.drbenlahoodeyesurgeon.com.au

Maintaining good health is often top of mind.

Many focus on strength and fitness, healthy eating, and mental well-being - but what about something as simple and as important to everyday as your vision.πŸ€”

Dr LaHood is most at home when consulting, in clinic, in theatre, or in a conference hall... but this week while in South Africa and speaking at the 21st Biennial International Congress of the South African Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (SASCRS), has seen him venture outside of his natural habitat and go on safari. πŸ˜πŸ¦’πŸ…πŸ

And while it's good to blend in with the environment you are in, it's also ok to add some colour.

SMILE Pro? LASIK? PRK? - Which one should I choose?

Each laser procedure is different and each person will be best suited to one of them.

This suitability can be determined by eye health, size, shape, personal visual goals and acuity.

Some patients will come in with no knowledge of any procedures, while others have made up their mind what they would prefer already.

During your consultation, Dr Ben LaHood will measure your eyes and talk to you about your lifestyle and visual demands, so the right procedure for you is chosen.

If you would like to find out more about the different laser vision procedures or have other questions visit his website - www.drbenlahoodeyesurgeon.com

However it does come with a financial cost.

Dr Ben LaHood offers a number of payment options to provide his patients with options and flexibility.πŸ‘οΈ

You can pay up-front and receive a cost saving or you can spread payments over the course a year.

You can find these options here: https://drbenlahoodeyesurgeon.com/laser-vision-surgery-cost-and-payment-options/

He acknowledges that laser is a significant investment but that can offer savings in the long term.

Many would say its money well spent. πŸ€”

Your laser treatment is designed to last forever. πŸ˜€

For the first 3-6 months vision continues to improve. In very few cases there may be some regression in the eye and if this is the case then an enhancement procedure can be undertaken to fine tune the results.

However, depending on your age when you invest in laser, your eyes will go through the normal changes of ageing.

As you age and the natural lens of the eye becomes less flexible, a natural process called presbyopia, and it is likely you will require reading glasses for near tasks. This usually happens to most people in their 40s to 50s. If you have laser before this time you may start to need reading glasses.

If laser vision correction is undertaken after the age of 45 years, a procedure called blended vision can treat for both near and far vision outcomes.

A laser vision specialist, Dr LaHood is able to answer these questions and design a visual solution to suit your lifestyle and goals.
