Hope for Depression — the Power of the Vagus Nerve and Bowen Therapy

New research has found that stimulating the vagus nerve — a key communication pathway between the brain and major organs — can significantly improve the quality of life in people with treatment-resistant depression.

In a clinical trial of 493 participants with major depression, those who received vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) showed measurable improvements in mood, daily functioning, and overall wellbeing — even after years of unsuccessful treatment.

Between each set of moves, Bowen Therapists pause for as many minutes as are needed for the client's body to begin responding.

As the nervous system begins to adjust the tension level in the muscles, the practitioner senses when the client is ready for the next set of moves.
