Smart move! People with allergies would normally carry an Epipen with them into the park. But having rangers carry them gives you extra precious minutes until emergency crews arrive.

EpiPens are used for treating allergic reactions, and when you are nowhere near a medical facility or emergency personnel, it can be a life saver.

Schools and child care centres should train staff on food allergies and have epinephrine available to treat anaphylaxis, but new guidelines do not recommend food bans.

GoodRx Research found that EpiPen fills were down this past August compared to previous years. This dip in fills may be due to more children learning remotely, and some states, such as California and Michigan, have seen a bigger shortfall in fills than others.
