Redness isn’t random.

Most of the time it’s a signal that the skin barrier isn’t functioning properly. When the barrier becomes impaired, the skin loses water more easily and becomes vulnerable to irritation and microbes.

This ongoing irritation triggers inflammation and increased vascular reactivity, which is why the skin starts to look flushed, reactive or sensitive.

This is why we don’t jump straight to correcting redness.

Melasma is one of the most challenging pigmentation conditions to treat.

Especially in darker skin types where aggressive treatments can trigger rebound pigment.

With melasma we don’t start by trying to remove the pigment.

We start by calming inflammation, because pigment is often a response to inflammation in the skin.

Once the skin is more stable, we can begin to target pigment production, and only then do we work on gradually removing the excess pigment.

For this client we’ve taken a slow and strategic approach using DMK Enzyme Therapy, brightening peels and skin needling with targeted boosters.

Happy 2 year work anniversary to our beautiful Christine!

Christine’s story begins with a CV landing in my inbox…

She had been working at a well-known clinic in the area that had recently closed down, and with her years of experience and knowledge, I knew I had to meet her.

My husband (who I should mention works in recruitment) decided to sit in on the interview. Now if you read my post about Tiana last week, you’ll know that at this stage I really wasn’t planning on hiring anyone. People just seemed to keep falling into my lap!

But by the end of the interview, my husband basically insisted that I hire her because she was so fabulous.

And as much as I hate to admit it… he was right 😂

Christine has become the calm in our storm. The steady presence that keeps everything moving when clinic life gets busy.
