Craving salt? Low energy, weak bladder or aching joints. These could be signs of a kidney imbalance.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the “kidney” function goes far beyond the physical kidneys. It governs reproduction, growth, development, and nourishes the brain, joints, and bones with qi and blood.

According to the Five Elements theory, a craving for salty foods can signal kidney weakness — a gentle reminder to pay attention to your kidney health. Interestingly, it’s not always about avoiding salt. In fact, eating a little salty food in the morning can help draw out kidney qi and energize the body.

Dr. Ping shares practical dietary advice and lifestyle tips to strengthen and protect your kidneys, especially since overwork and a busy lifestyle can easily deplete them.

🌿 Health Starts in the Kitchen! 🌿

Recently, the Ping Ming Health Community Center in Perth hosted a vibrant "TCM Food as Medicine and Culture Day," bringing together families for an inspiring and delicious event.

In her opening speech, Dr. Ping Wang, TCM Doctor and the Association’s Chairperson, shared:
"The foundation of health is always in our daily food basket and kitchen. Hands-on cooking is the best investment in your health and your family."

The day beautifully combined TCM wisdom with family practice. Each participant brought a dish inspired by TCM food therapy, sharing their ingredients, health benefits, and cooking experiences. While enjoying a delicious array of 15 dishes, everyone exchanged ideas and learned the timeless TCM principle that "medicine and food are of the same origin.“ 🥢🏺

🎉 Prizes were awarded for the top three dishes, sparking even more creativity and enthusiasm!

The day also featured interactive activities, including a Tai Chi demonstration, children’s calligraphy workshop, and guided tours of our TCM exhibition hall and clinic.
Families shared how this fun, hands-on approach helped deepen their children’s health awareness and connection to TCM culture.

The Ping Ming Health Community Center looks forward to hosting more events to promote TCM education, family health, and multicultural community engagement. Stay tuned for more exciting programs! 🎊

After four years of preparation, Ping Ming Health Foundation Perth held the launching ceremony at 2:30 pm on Saturday, 15 March, at 54 Dudley St Midland, WA 6056.

Firstly, during the ceremony, President of the community Dr Ping Wang made a speech. She explained the purpose of the Foundation is to popularise the education of TCM health awareness and balance of emotional issues to the society and students. The foundation is also aimed at helping people who have financial issues to get TCM treatment.

The professional photographer Tony showed the audience his artwork, and the designer, Teresa, introduced the principle of showroom design. Thirdly, the participants tasted some herbal teas served by our community staff Fiona. They also observed indoor and outdoor TCM herbal plants. Furthermore, everybody tried Chinese calligraphy which helps energy flow. Then, Mr. Chen from Wing Hong Butchers donated to the Foundation.

Lastly, the Foundation provided two thousand dollars as scholarship to Rick, who just started his TCM study in RMIT. We hope that we can provide more information about TCM to the public and the society in the future, at the same time, the public and the society can be involved more in the education and activities of the Foundation. Together, we can improve the TMC acupuncture impact on society and help our communities get healthier.
