Steely Supports is officially on the Coast!! 🏄‍♂️

In transition from VIC to QLD I have put a lot of thought into appropriate marketing strategies and services to kick start our program in 2023!

By the end of April we plan to revamp all our marketing strategies which means updated social media accounts and everything we would like to achieve in 2023 and the type of services we will be offering 🙌

So keep an eye on updates over March and April with exciting news on what is changing, what we are up too and most exciting, when our program will officially be starting again 🔥

It’s pretty simple really, we don’t want anyone to be left behind or feel alone. We have a passion and the heart to extend a hand out to anyone who needs just that little bit extra help. It could be 2 hours a week, it could be every day, but whatever services are in need we want to provide for it.

Empowering an individual to feel that they can achieve anything or to simply be the person that encourages another who might not have ever received such a gesture can change a life.

There’s so many out there that have incredible potential and have such a chance at a quality of life that just need to be told and supported that they are valued. We simply want to be that voice and that push to give someone a shot.

Sometimes it’s as simple as being present and consistent, but if that’s what it takes to give someone in need a go, then we want to be there for it 👊

There is something humbling about working in the disability sector that highlights that activities and actions that we can some times take for granted create a huge difference in the lives of our clients 🤟

Through experience, even something as simple as having a conversation about a topic that interests a client goes a long way. You could be talking about their favourite sport team but to them it’s sharing the knowledge and passion that they have to someone who is willing to listen 👂

Other events such as going out somewhere special for lunch can be seen as a natural daily activity. But to give our clients access and a chance to make things like this happen can change someone’s life and bring a sense of quality and purpose into their day 🙌

In this line of work there is a high possibility that you’ll find people with disabilities in facilities that might not need 24/7 care. But due to lack of resources/support/services, it’s where you will find some people end up.

The beauty of this program is we get the opportunity to move through facilities to help engage and connect with those who have a chance at independent living but just need the proper 1 to 1 care, support and time.

To allow someone the opportunity to live independently boosts a persons quality of life, mental health and simply their own value in themselves. We have had some incredible moments with clients where they genuinely see we are there for them and that they have an opportunity at quality of life.

There’s no greater feeling than reaching out a hand to someone who has an incredible chance at doing a lot of life skills independently but just needs a little push and support. To be able to offer that opportunity and chance to someone can be life changing 🙌

As we move closer and closer to our newest adventure in the Sunny Coast, I wanted to start off our new little informative serious on why have we set up this program? 🤨

Over the next couple of days I will be explaining all the W’s of Steely Supports! The what’s, why’s, who’s, where’s to dive into the ideas and aspirations that we are guiding this program into.

I am super excited to announce that as of February next year, Steely Supports shall be running in the Sunshine Coast ☀️

I cannot express my gratitude more highly to everyone who has made this possible. Where we have taken the program so far in Wodonga could not have happened without the help of particular individuals and I cannot thankyou enough 🙏

This next step into expanding the business will be starting with connecting with clients, but from then on, there is huge hopes of moving into employing more support workers. I feel lead into this new step for the business that there is a lot of people out there in need of support care. So our next goal is to move into future employment for others 👊

As always, thankyou to everyone that has supported me, this business and the progress we are taking. It has been a fascinating journey for me and I can’t wait to keep you updated on our works in the Sunshine Coast 🏄‍♂️

After two months of support work, the last main thing I’ve learnt so far is that the small things can make a huge difference 💪

With the clients I have had the absolute privilege of doing time with so far, I’ve learnt that something even as a simple as being present in constant in their life can go a long way.

Being present can show you want to hang out. Having a conversation can mean you’re creating a safe space for your clients to speak their mind. Taking interests in their hobbies shows you care.

Any effort to be a part of a persons life, can do a world of difference as you might not be aware of their past or what they are currently going through 🙏

Having the idea or creating a business can come across scary but I can’t encourage enough to at least give it a go if it’s something on your mind.

It takes preparation and dedication but even is this doesn’t work out eventually for me, to have the knowledge of how to set a business in motion beats just dreaming about making one.

You’re going to hit roadblocks, that’s just expected. But part of the fear of setting up a business is the unknown of what setting it up will look like or the difficulties of setting one up from scratch.

As simple as it sounds, you’re never going to know without giving it a go so just go for it! You could be sitting on an incredible business idea that’s so in need right now 👊

Mistakes when making a business/program is a great thing because it shows you’re either taking risks or moving forward with what you’re trying to achieve.

Making mistakes and taking risks are so important in the early day progress of business because it gives you a chance to trail and error ideas. You’ll learn quickly that mistakes help you grow and strengthen your business.

All of this can happen as long as you learn from them and not repeat the same mistakes. I’ve stuffed up emails, information, application, communication, statements, approaches to clients but the best part about all of that is I’ve learnt how to appropriately present the business over time.

And, it’s only been 2 months for me. So there will be plenty more mistakes and lessons I need to learn in time but I know that will only help me learn overtime how to successfully run things. So take risks, make mistakes, but grow and learn from them 💪

One of the major blessings of working in the support sector is understanding how far your work can go and what your work enables others to do.

For me in particular, my work has allowed family members to work, nurses to have a break, siblings the opportunity to do things for themselves and also the chance for families to go on holidays 🙏

As amazing as the experience is to do time with my clients, the fact that it gives time back to other family members or workers makes me very thankful that I’m able to do what I do for a living 🙌
