New research released shows how prevailing attitudes toward disability, which are shaped by media, schools and personal experience, can either exclude or empower.

Young people are calling for:
🔹 a shift to the social model of disability
🔹 inclusive education and workplaces
🔹 accessible support services
🔹 disability pride and peer support networks.

This week is Invisible Disabilities Week 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These can include mobility, mental health, learning difficulties, speech, visual impairments, hearing loss, respiratory and chronic conditions, all of which can shape how someone experiences the world.

AlburyCity is proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme. It’s a simple way for people to signal they may need extra time, support or understanding.

You can pick up a free sunflower lanyard, wristband or pin from one of our customer service centres across Albury, including the admin building on Kiewa St.

We’re working to make AlburyCity a leader in inclusion and accessibility, a place where everyone can visit, live, work and play safely and confidently.

Well Jodie has had her cup of Milo and is all tucked up for the night. While she is thankful she has a swag tonight, those who are homeless often have nothing warm to sleep in and nowhere safe to lie down. There are so many reasons people may be homeless but we can all help to ensure they have somewhere safe and warm to sleep. Any donation will be gratefully received ❤️

Update on Jess!

A very excited Jess recently returned from the Special Olympics Australia - Ovens & Murray regional championships held in Ballarat. The reason Jess was so excited was because she placed 3rd in her event against some tough opposition. Congratulations and well played, Jess!!! We look forward to what you can achieve at the upcoming state championship.
