Obsession with your new baby 😍😍

It’s a normal, physiological part of the bonding process for Mum and Bub.

For some mums it happens immediately after the birth and some mums need to take their time and get to know their babies first, before it kicks in. Both options are normal and will lead to strong parent and child bonds.

Expecting to “enjoy every minute” of being a mum/parent is unrealistic. It’s puts so much pressure on parents. The love we feel for our kids does not exist in a vacuum. We can feel multiple emotions for our children all at the same time. It’s what makes us amazing mums.

The obsession may take a while to kick in but when it does, it will last a lifetime.

WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS! 📣

As part of our developing services, midwife Lindsay is honing her early pregnancy ultrasound skills! This can be a useful tool for investigating pain or bleeding in early pregnancy, offering reassurance whilst waiting for a formal dating ultrasound. It can also aid in diagnosing and managing miscarriage or early pregnancy loss.

The midwifery team and Dr Onley at Earthside Midwifery Group are pleased to announce that we now offer an Early Pregnancy Assessment Service, for complications or concerns in early pregnancy. Same day appointments are generally available.

This may include, but is not limited to:
✓ Miscarriage support/management
✓ Investigation of bleeding or pain
✓ Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTOP)
✓ Bedside ultrasound
✓ Management of nausea and vomiting
✓ Genetic screening counselling/collection

Linds can scan pregnancies in the first trimester from 6 weeks generally - and is able to offer advice and care around any outcome.

🩸 Blood testing

Need bloods done? Pop in clinic to have them collected - book a time and avoid the loooooong queues elsewhere.

We can collect all routine bloods in clinic, as well as your Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) on Tuesdays and Fridays for our patients, AND those who are seeing other practitioners, just bring your slip!

🚨 Low Level Laser Therapy (also known as Photobiomodulation)

This is a therapeutic treatment that uses red or near-infrared light to stimulate, heal, and protect tissue. It is NOT hot, so it’s really comfortable to do.

Whilst it’s safe in pregnancy, it really shines in the postnatal period, we can use it for a variety of things:

• Mastitis treatment
• Healing cracked, sore or damaged ni***es
• Perineal healing/reduction of swelling following vaginal birth
• Caesarean scar reduction
• Accupuncture activation
