Meet Dr Jasan Dannaway, now consulting at Joint Vision.
In this short video, Dr Dannaway explains his approach to treating shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, and what patients can expect when seeking specialist care.
With a background as a physiotherapist, his focus is on clear diagnosis, practical pathways and working toward the right solution, whether that involves surgery or not.

Injury and pain don’t just affect your body — they can impact your confidence, your routine, and the things you love doing most.

At Joint Vision, we focus on helping people not just recover, but get back to living.

From patients who feel stuck and overwhelmed, to those rebuilding strength and confidence step by step — every recovery journey is different.

🎥 In this short video, our osteopath Toby talks about one of the most common questions we hear:
“How long will it take to get better?”

Ramadan Mubarak to everyone observing.

This evening, the Joint Vision team came together to break the fast at Iftar and were treated to a delicious banquet at Samaras.

While not all of us were fasting, it was a great opportunity to share in the spirit of Ramadan and come together as a team.

A big thank you to Dr Sheraz Anjum for hosting such a special evening. Moments like this are a great reminder of the value in celebrating the diverse cultures and traditions within our team and community.

Great to be at the Illawarra Basketball Association season launch at Wiseman Park Bowling Club yesterday.
Dr Meghan Dares and Wynter Dares caught up with NBL1 Illawarra Men’s coach Matt Flinn and Women’s coach Tom Cranney as excitement builds for the new season.
Matt noted during his address that the Illawarra Basketball Association has produced more NBL players than any other association in Australia, a huge achievement and a reflection of the incredible pathway for young players in our region.
With the next generation of talent coming through the men’s and women’s programs, it’s shaping up to be another exciting year for Illawarra basketball.
We’re also working with the IBA on something exciting for the upcoming season.

We’re living longer than ever before.
But are we moving longer?
On the weekend, Dr Meghan Dares opened TEDxWollongong with a talk about the relationship between movement, ageing and healthspan — and why protecting mobility earlier in life may be one of the most important health conversations we’re not having.
She’s expanded on that idea in a new article for Joint Vision.
It’s a fascinating perspective on why the first thing many people lose as they age isn’t life — it’s mobility.
And mobility determines how much life we get to live.

“The first thing we lose as we age isn’t life. It’s mobility.
But mobility determines how much life we get to live.”

On Saturday Dr Meghan Dares opened TEDx Wollongong with a powerful message about the hidden risk of living longer — and why protecting our movement is one of the most important health challenges of our time.
As an orthopaedic surgeon and co-founder of Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group, Meghan sees this every day in clinic: people quietly giving things up — the sport, the walks, the dancing — long before they should have to.
Her talk reframes the conversation about ageing in Australia.
It’s not just about lifespan.
It’s about healthspan.

We are proud to see this important idea shared on the TEDx stage and our hope is now to keep Australia Moving Forward.

“You can’t be what you can’t see.”
That’s one of the reflections shared by Dr Meghan Dares in a feature published this week by the Australian Orthopaedic Association as part of its International Women’s Day campaign, “Balance the Scales.”
The article explores the importance of mentorship, visibility and leadership in shaping the future of orthopaedic surgery.
At Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group, we’re proud to see Dr Dares’ story highlighted as part of this important conversation.

Honoured to see Dr Meghan Dares featured by the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) as part of its International Women's Day campaign, Balance the Scales.
The piece reflects on leadership, visibility and the evolving face of orthopaedics — and the importance of mentorship in shaping the next generation of surgeons.
Thank you to the AOA for highlighting these conversations across the profession.

In the lead up to UN Women Australia's International Women’s Day this Sunday (8 March), we asked AOA members to reflect on their careers in medicine and how they pave the way for the next generation of female orthopaedic surgeons in support of this year’s theme: ‘Balance the scales’.

Today, OWL member and foot and ankle surgeon Dr Meghan Dares reflects on her decision to pursue orthopaedics and how balancing the scales is not favouring one group over another, but ensuring pathways into leadership and training are transparent, supportive, and grounded in merit.

“It’s about creating an environment where talent and dedication determine opportunity…When we remove unnecessary barriers, the profession benefits, and ultimately so do our patients.”

Last night Joint Vision had the privilege of hosting Professor Nando Ferreira, an internationally recognised orthopaedic surgeon specialising in complex limb reconstruction and limb salvage.
Professor Ferreira delivered an outstanding presentation before leading a hands-on surgical workshop, demonstrating techniques used around the world to treat complex limb injuries and deformities.
It was a special moment for our team, with Dr Meghan Dares having previously worked alongside Professor Ferreira at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town during a nine-month fellowship in complex trauma and limb reconstruction.
Dr Sheraz Anjum has also travelled to South Africa to learn from Professor Ferreira in high-volume specialist centres.
We were also thrilled to welcome orthopaedic registrars and residents from Wollongong Public Hospital, highlighting the strong collaboration between Joint Vision and the next generation of surgeons in our region.
Opportunities like this help bring global expertise to the Illawarra, supporting ongoing education and ultimately improving care for our community.
A big thank you to Professor Ferreira for sharing his knowledge with us.
