NSW ADHD REFORMS - EXCITING NEWS!!!

I am excited to announce that I have been offered a training place in the NSW ADHD reforms endorsed prescriber program!

There are many months of training and endorsements ahead - but I am looking forward to **soon** being able to offer diagnosis and treatment services to my patients.

I continue to provide continuation prescribing for my regular patients, who have an appropriate written handover from their diagnosing doctor.

DID NOT ATTEND / CANCELLATION FEE POLICY

Frustratingly, there has been a recent increase in patients failing to attend their appointments.

My 'Did Not Attend & Cancellation Fee Policy' is designed to ensure fairness to patients who are kept waiting for appointments.

Please remember:
💜 Your appointment time is reserved especially for you - if you fail to attend, or cancel at late notice, you affect four (4) appointments:
1. the appointment that you did not attend;
2. the patient who could have had your appointment;
3. your rescheduled appointment; and
4. the patient who could have had your rescheduled appointment.

💜 I am running my own small business - if you fail to attend, or cancel at late notice:
- I receive NO income for that appointment; and
- I still have to cover my costs, including employing staff and meeting operational expenses.

💜 Similar policies/fees are in place for other small businesses - including non-GP specialists, psychologists, restaurants, hairdressers, beauticians, nail technicians, etc.

Under my 'Did Not Attend & Cancellation Fee Policy', I appreciate your co-operation as below:
💜 A minimum of four (4) hours notice, prior to your scheduled appointment time, is required for cancellation or changes to appointment times.
💜 Patients not attending or cancelling their appointment within four (4) hours of their scheduled appointment time will be charged a Did Not Attend/Cancellation Fee equivalent to the fee charged for that appointment type - currently $100 for a standard appointment and $170 for a long appointment.
💜 Please note no subsequent appointments will be booked until the Did Not Attend/Cancellation Fee is settled.
💜 I reserve the right to request a deposit for any future appointment booking.

Fees are charged automatically.

If you feel you have extra-ordinary or emergency circumstances please notify Ochre Medical Centre Wollongong in writing and management will give your matter due consideration.

I asks for your assistance and adherence to my 'Did Not Attend & Cancellation Fee Policy' to help me provide a better service to my patients and community.

FEES - FROM NOVEMBER 1 2025

Medicare rebates do not, and were never intended to, cover the full cost of medical services. Medicare rebates are provided by the Government to help you cover the cost of your medical care.

The Medicare Schedule Fee and the Medicare rebate do not reflect the value of a medical service, or an amount that medical practitioners should or must charge.

The fees I charge have to cover all of my costs, including employing staff (eg. receptionists, administration, practice nurses) and meeting operational expenses, (eg. rent, equipment, medical supplies, electricity, cleaning, computers, accreditation, and insurances).

It is not possible for me to meet these running costs each year without charging a private fee.

This means that I do not bulk bill, and will not change my billing policy in future.

I understand this may cause concern.

If you wish to let the Government know that the current Medicare rebate is insufficient to assist you in meeting the cost of your medical care, please contact your local Member of Parliament:

EXCITING NEW ADVENTURES!!!

Feeling extremely lucky to have been invited into the Business for Doctors family - and to be able to present at the biggest BFD workshop yet, with 225 eager doctors at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour!

I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with my fellow presenters and sharing MBS knowledge in order to improve patient care.

MY SINCERE APOLOGIES

My sincere apologies to all of my wonderful patients who have had to reschedule their appointments with me over the past few weeks.

Our family has had a tough August - colds, vomiting bugs, and interstate funerals have made life even more tricky that it otherwise is.

I'm looking forward to being back on deck as soon as possible.
