Enhance Clinical Psychology Services

Enhance Clinical Psychology Services My name is Janet Cartwright and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I work with adults (18 years and over) to give them skills to enhance their lives.

I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and am registered to provide Clinical Psychology services under the Better Access Scheme through Medicare and I also see privately paying clients. I also work with clients under the Workers Compensation system and am registered with WorkCover NSW as an approved provider. I also accept payment under DVA. I work with clients who have depressio

n, bipolar disorder, difficulties managing worry and stress, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, minority stress and discrimination, exploration of gender (binary and non-binary), exploration of sexuality, gender affirming care including WPATH letters, low self-esteem, binge eating and body image issues (from HAES, non-diet approach), self-harm and thoughts of su***de, problems at work and in relationships, and people who would like to learn to be more assertive and communicate more effectively. I have a special interest in working with clients with mood disorders. I use a variety of treatment approaches depending on what is most suitable for the client. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema-focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. My approach to treatment is influenced by my belief that each client is unique and has a different story to tell. The client has a vast amount of knowledge about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and the kind of life they would like to lead. I combine my knowledge of research and my clinical experience with the client's experience of what strategies have been helpful and unhelpful for them in dealing with problems in their lives. I strive to create an environment that is therapeutic, allowing my clients to feel safe enough to be able to discuss any topic without fear of judgment, including their feelings about the therapy process. Treatment involves working together to develop a goal and then continuing to work together to achieve it. Over the course of therapy, the client will develop skills and knowledge that they will be able to apply both during and after treatment to maintain their good health and continue to improve their quality of life. My research interests have focused on the importance of the therapy relationship and how this relates to the effectiveness of therapy.
