yasmine@uow.edu.au I specialise in chronic disease management with a focus on multiple sclerosis and weight loss.

I work for the University of Wollongong as an Associate Professor and am available for community and industry consultancies. My focus is the translation of evidence based health information for consumers with the application of various forms of technology as appropriate including phone apps, virtual and augmented reality and artificial intelligence.

Great to have our local and not so local year 12 students coming to campus this week for Discovery days. Our rooms are full and the students are really enthusiastic. Let's hope we see you all at Wollongong next year!

The biannual MS Australia conference is one of the most community oriented conferences I've been to in a while. Leaving Brisbane with a longer to do list than when I arrived, which I didn't think was possible. But it was also good to see people IRL rather than just in screen. Our UOW Eatright MS team had presentations across all 3 days representing dietetics for MS at every step of the way.

It's that time of the year again, neuro appointment time and this time my mango smoothie under an old fig tree. Today I heard the words exceptional clinical exam, otherwise normal, no change, no evidence of disease activity, looks the same and do you want to be superior or super superior in relation to my bloods. Feeling very happy. Stable and no change, woot woot!

What have I done to help?
On reflection, I eat well not perfectly, sleep well and regularly, I've got myself into a good exercise routine (something every day), I don't drink alcohol more than at special occasions and I do weekly meditation. I've also made a active decision to be conscious of my stress and start saying no when things get too crazy and listen to be body, don't ignore.
These things are easily forgotten when times get tough or busy so it has been an active process of small steps towards a long term goal ie. my health.
