Have you ever tried a float tank? 🌿
This Mother's Day, I was gifted rest and relaxation... a float therapy session.
And I love how most deeply restorative it is.
Float tanks are filled with water rich in magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts), so your body simply floats effortlessly.
No effort or resistance. Just stillness.
Here's what I noticed, and what many people commonly experience:
1. Physical release: the buoyancy takes pressure off your joints, muscles, and spine. I felt like I'd finally exhaled tension I didn't even know I was carrying.
2. Nervous system support: the quiet, dark environment gives your nervous system full permission to rest.
3. Magnesium support: your body soaks in those salts, and while research on absorption varies, I felt noticeably calmer and less tense afterward.
4. Inner stillness: without external noise, it becomes so much easier to drop inward. To meditate. To listen. For those of us drawn to spiritual practice, float tanks create a rare kind of quiet that's hard to find anywhere else.
A few gentle things to know if you're curious:
- Avoid caffeine beforehand if you want a deeper experience
- Don't shave right before (the salt will sting)
- Hydrate well afterward
- If you're claustrophobic, ask about open-style float rooms
This is a nervous system recalibration - a space where intuition and inner imagery become clearer. 🤍
Have you tried float therapy? I'd love to hear your experience.
